Oh Sunday how I love thee. Let me count the ways…
→ For the majority of us, we can sleep in. For me yesterday I washed my sheets after being gone for a week. I just wanted something truly comforting, aside from Mr. Fantabulous. Straight from the dryer you could smell how fresh they were and could feel the softness. I made the bed, turned down the covers and then let it go for a few hours. There is nothing better, EVER, than crawling into cold, clean sheets when you are nice and clean yourself. I seriously slept like a baby last night. And what was even more awesome is that it was raining when I got up. That’s awesome for 2 reasons – one, I don’t have to cut grass today and two, I can be lazy (well at least for 10 more minutes).
→ Brunch. Seriously brunch is like every foodies’ dream. You get the best of both worlds here! You get your breakfast foods and also lunch/dinner-ish feasts PLUS dessert. HELLO! Just apologize to my yoga pants now but I’m goin’ in coach!
→ Sports… while it’s not hockey or football season I LOVE Sunday games.
→ Sunday newspaper … I LOVE reading the Sunday paper (okay fine I only look at the ads and coupons) while drinking a cup of tea and perhaps piece of coffee cake.
→ NO PANTS and NO BRA! There I said it! I hate, HATE wearing pants (skirts too mind you) and for me Sunday is truly the ultimate. I can stay in my pajamas or yoga pants all day, no bra, hair pulled up and no makeup. I don’t have to be an adult that day. BONUS!
Now I could go on but those are my top reasons why Sunday’s rock. And honestly after this past week I’m looking forward to a quasi-lazy day. Well that is, until Mr. Fantabulous gets home from band practice. See last week I was traveling again for work and while I was gone a friend of ours came up for the day to help him by putting down the plaster cement on the seams of our blueboards in the basement (PROGRESS FOLKS!!! HOT DAMN!). If you’ve ever been to my house you know my entire downstairs is massive – like it’s the size of most folk’s entire house and my darling husband decided to take it upon himself 7 years ago to rip everything out (we’re talking down to the cement blocks and concrete floor) and redesign it himself.
And if you know my husband, he said “3 months, 3 months and the whole thing will be done…” Yeah.. that was 7 years ago. <sigh> However there is a glimmer at the end of the tunnel as it’s coming together, albeit slowly, it’s still coming together. Now if you’ve ever worked with plaster cement you have 45 minutes to one hour to get an area done and use the stuff before it well, turns into true cement. So it’s a 2-person job. The guys got about 1/3-1/2 of the downstairs done however that meant there was still 2/3-1/2 left. Remember my saying it’s a 2-person job??? Yeah, none of our friends live close.. AT ALL. And it just so happens that I’m in town for the next week so you’re looking at Tool Beyotch Extraordinare for the week. LOL
But wait, let me back up a minute and tell you about my week leading up to yesterday. As I said I was traveling all week and fortunately where I gym has a location there. Even though my shoulder still hurts as bad as ever I figure I will go back to my normal workout routine and modify as need-be for the pain. For those of you that are new to here (welcome!), my workouts are intense. See I love food (no, I LOVE food) and well, my thighs love it more. I have a negative metabolism which means air makes me fat. So I run 4-8 miles 4-5 days a week, spin 15-18 miles 4-5 days a week and do 5 days of weight training. Yeah I know, I’m insane. So this past week was second week back to that schedule after having really been off from that routine for 4 months due to my shoulder surgery. Needless to say come Saturday morning I was hurtin’ big time.
… annnnnnnnnnd that’s when I was informed that I was hired to be Tool Beyotch Extraordinare for the day. Now my job actually is fairly simple, clean the tools, go up and down the steps 472 times to wash this or that out with the hose, get him this or that and try not to get in the way. Literally within the first 3 minutes of picking up a tool to hand him I had cement on both arms, streaks on my shirt and IN my shoe (don’t ask me how!). 3 minutes folks! After doing our first round, we took a break. So instead of tracking my obviously ruined cement covered clothes and shoes upstairs I stripped down where I was and left them there as I knew we were going to do another round. As I took off my shirt I muttered something I never thought I’d mutter in my life…
“Honey, I have cement in my ARM PIT!!! WTH??? How did it get there???” I had this stuff EVERYWHERE – my shoe, my face, my underwear (my pants were too big so I kept pulling them up) and literally in my arm pit! Mr. Fantabulous – barely a few specks on him. I guess I understand now why he won’t let me help do “real work” LOL
So with that, I’m off to be lazy (well okay, not really but it’s nice to pretend). Here’s to you having an amazing week!

TKW I absolutely LOVE your sense of humor ~ we are on the same wave-length there for sure!! Second, I chose your Pressure Cooker Chicken Wings With Bourbon Honey BBQ Sauce for my maiden voyage with a new pressure cooker. I have used a pressure cooker for many, many years and just wanted to try something different with my new PC. What a fantastic recipe! I followed your directions to a “T” ~ even made the Cowboy BBQ Sauce to use in the Bourbon Honey BBQ Sauce. I think either one of these sauces could be a stand-alone BBQ sauce. I love reading your stories, along with the recipes, so I think I’m a definite fan of TKW and look forward to more of your recipes, especially PC ones since I want to use it a lot more than I’ve used a PC in the past. Before your wings, my favorite things to cook in my PC were Steel Cut Oats and fresh artichokes. Many thanks from a grateful cook. 🙂 Semraa

Aw thank you so much Semrae! I love that we’re on the same wave-length but dear God I pray you never find concrete in your armpit! LOL
I agree, those sauces are definitely stand-alone bbq sauces that are AWESOME in and on burgers, chicken, shrimp and a spoon! I just never got around to creating a post just for the sauce (Cowboy sauce that is).
I actually just perfected the most amazing poached chicken breasts in the pressure cooker. I’m editing the photos now and hope to have the recipe posted next week. One single batch of this perfectly poached chicken breasts can give you a week’s worth of dinners! I’m seriously addicted to it! 10 minutes in the PC and you’re all set! Oh tell me more about your fresh artichokes in the PC!
