So I have a confession. <deep breath>
I’ve been holding out on you guys; waiting for… something. A sign perhaps? The stars and moon to align? Maybe a vision or the Bacon Fairy to visit me. Whatever it was, it’s now time. It’s time folks for…
S’mores Bacon Man Candy V. Yes another recipe in my Man Candy series.
Yeah take a moment to gawk that a while. Go on, drool a little. Heck drool a lot. And while you’ll be tempted to lick your screen, please don’t because it’s not going to taste like bacony s’mores awesomeness but more like dusty dirtiness.
When I first saw the recipe for grilled bacon wrapped onion rings a few years ago I was intrigued. Since most of you know by now I’m not one that has mastered the grill (kinda hard when Mr. Fantabulous and I go round and round about my buying a BBQ and him saying he’ll just build me one… for the past 8 years) a girl has to improvise those grilled techniques. I’ve made bacon wrapped onion rings a bunch of times, and while they were good – I mean seriously it’s bacon after all and ANYTHING WRAPPED IN BACON is awesome. I think I’d even like cucka bleu cheese wrapped in bacon.. maybe. Heck I might even try a bacon wrapped cherry.
Um… on second thought. No, no I wouldn’t. Cherries are just the seeds from Satan. *shudder* Anyway, recently another site posted the grilled version of the wrapped onion ring and all of you kept asking me where was my version since you know Sriracha and bacon are my two food loves. As I said, I tried and tried a few times but it just was.. okay. And you all know me, I don’t do just ‘okay’ when it comes to food. I want to blow your mind and rock your world. Well FINALLY I figured out what was missing and seriously I literally said “OMFG” out loud in my kitchen this morning when I took that very first bite. That was it! The missing ingredient! Funny thing was, I had this flavor combination for years. Heck, it’s one of my most popular recipes and has been featured on countless cooking shows, food blogs, repinned, downloaded and shared millions of times. What was it? MAN CANDY baby! Man Candy II to be exact!
Yeah… see that plate?
I know I know I know, I’ve been holding out you folks on the Man Candy recipes. It’s funny how a single basic ingredient, bacon, can literally go viral globally. Ever since introducing the Man Candy series I have lost count on how many millions of hits these recipes have had. These Man Candy recipes have been featured on countless websites, tv shows, blogs, food shows. You’ve tweeted, pinned, stumbled upon, googled and fell in love. Bacon lovers united, held hands (well okay just a single hand as the other was needed to stuff this amazing Man Candy Bacon in your mouth! LOL) and praised me for these things. Men wept in joy, dogs offered up their favorite bones in exchange for a piece and a statue was erected in my honor. Okay so fine, that stuff may not be true but men did weep. LOL
Just look at how damn sexy she is…
Man Candy baby.. you know you want it!
So the whole notion of ‘appetizers’ cracks me up. It’s a Pre-Meal… meal. It’s like you’re prepping for the real meal to come out. It essentially is generally “a food or drink that stimulates the appetite and is usually served before a meal”. See a pre-meal! Well with Thanksgiving rapidly approaching, it seems more and more folks serve appetizers before the big meal. Now this is something new to me as my family never did this. Then again we didn’t have the extra money for stuff like appetizers plus we wanted to save our appetites for the real meal. LOL
Now since they are a pre-meal, let’s call them by their real name Hors d’oeuvres. Hor d’oeuvres are the first course. If there is an extended period between when guests arrive and when the meal is eaten (for example during a cocktail hour), these might also serve the purpose of sustaining guests during the wait, in the same way that apéritifs are served as a drink before meals. Hors d’oeuvre are sometimes served with no meal afterward. This is the case with many reception and cocktail party events. Hors d’oeuvre may be served at the dinner table as a part of the meal, or they may be served before seating. Hors d’oeuvre prior to a meal are either rotated by waiters or passed. Stationary hors d’oeuvre served at the table may be referred to as “table hors d’oeuvre”. Passed hors d’oeuvre may be referred to as “butler-style” or “butlered” hors d’oeuvre.
