Your boring baked potato just got all kinds of sexy with this Bloomin’ Loaded Baked Potatoes recipe! Crispy skinned potato wedges all covered in melty cheese and crispy bacon. Yeah, life just got a whole lot tastier!
For all of you newbies that found your way recently to the TKW Family, WELCOME! Now there are a few things you need to know about me and my personality. The way I write my posts and describe my recipes is I envision you’re sitting with me in my kitchen either watching me cook/bake or you’re helping me. We’re chatting and laughing like we’ve been friends for decades – like the kind of friends who don’t judge you if you wear your sweats pants on inside out, your hair is a hot mess or if you trip will laugh til they cry all the while helping you up. When I write I open up my home and life as I want you guys to relate to me and to feel like you’re with me as I’m cooking or doing something. You feel at home here, even if you’re half way across the world, you still feel like family.
Something else you need to know about me – my husband is Mr. Fantabulous who has the metabolism of 967 people. No seriously it’s unreal. I, on the other hand, have a negative metabolism (if there’s such a thing) meaning I don’t even have to eat food to gain jiggle. I’m obsessed with pigs but I love bacon. My logic is simply this – bacon is made from ugly pigs, not the uber cutsie ones that are dressed up. I want a mini teacup pig, a cat and a dog but since our house is still being remodeled (9+ years now – we’re doing it ourselves) it’s not safe to have pets. I loathe anything cherries – I mean we’re talking not even cherry lip gloss. Pizza is my all time favorite food and my favorite veggie is the potato. Thus this recipe… an ode to the glorious spud.
I’m sure at some point in your lives you’ve had some facet of a “Bloomin’ Onion” either from Outback Steakhouse or some other restaurant. And even if you haven’t, you’ve had to have heard of them. Right? So these bloomin’ onions were cut in a way that, when batter dipped and deep fried would ‘bloom’ in the hot oil thus making the onion to look like a blooming flower.
These potatoes will dress up any dish. Turn a bland tater into something mouth watering!
With the holidays in full swing now, these simple but elegant spinach & cheese puff tarts are the perfect recipe to WOW your guests and family! These can be made in advance, kept in the fridge or freezer! Just reheat and serve!
So wow it’s like *counts on her fingers* 12 days til Thanksgiving! However if you’re in any store or mall now we’ve apparently already had Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and are ready for Valentine’s day. I get the whole being ready for the holidays and all but come on, let me enjoy my holiday AT the time of my holiday! I shouldn’t have to buy Halloween candy in July, my turkey in September and my Christmas tree in October. However that seems to be acceptable thing now so I might as well go along with the flow; well that is food-wise at least *wink*
Okay seriously I’m ALL about holiday parties, get-togethers and the foods. That’s when I think houses look the prettiest – the lights, decorations and stuff. Plus the food is just so much ….more. Sure during the warmer months we all have great food but for me, there’s just something a tad more special about holidays foods.
I think for me it all started as a kid. Every party we had Mom made it a big deal. To this day I honestly have no idea where the foods came from as we were really poor; no seriously like REALLY poor but yet Mom would put out a spread that would rival any restaurant. Starting right before Thanksgiving until the day after New Year’s Day the cooking, baking and holiday festivities were never ending.
Such a simple recipe but with an impressive end result!
Veggies burger are part of the “norm” and rightly so. They are delicious, hearty and can stack up to your traditional burgers. These Zucchini Ricotta Veggie burgers are juicy, hearty and perfect for you meat-free meals!
Are you a burger purist? Do you insist that a burger is comprised of beef and nothing else? Do you scoff at the thought of a chicken or turkey burger? Does the mention of a veggie burger make you shudder in pure disdain? Well this post isn’t for you. However I think you’re a fool to skip past this post and recipe. I kid you not; you’re seriously missing out on something truly incredible and delicious. Be a rebel here. Be like those folks that decided to try salted caramel or candied bacon.
It’s funny as growing up veggies were my nemesis. I would turn my nose up at the thought of eating zucchini. I was all about the beef (’bout that beef, ’bout that beef.. sorry was channeling Meghan Trainor there for a minute). I was one of those burger snobs. Burgers had to beef and nothing else.
Be a Burger Rebel and make these delicious burgers!
This post is being sponsored by Daisey Fresh featuring their incredible 100% Natural & Organic fridge filters. All opinions of these ABSOLUTELY AMAZING filters are mine.
Hey TKW Family! I have a great no cook/no bake ridiculously easy recipe that honestly could not have been possible without the amazing filters from my friends at Daisey Fresh! How so do you ask? Lemme tell you! So I’ve been using these filters in my fruit and veggie drawers in my fridge for about 2 months now. First off, they are super adorable and you can’t miss seeing them in the drawers. They are neon green and so soft/flexible which is great as I don’t to worry about breaking if it I throw my head of broccoli in the drawer. And more importantly is the filter packets are 100% natural and safe! So if I rip it open by accident I don’t have to freak out or throw away my foods!
So for the longest time I was buying this big bag of baby bell peppers only the thing was we weren’t eating them fast enough. Which meant I was breaking one of my golden rules – I was wasting food as I always ended up throwing about half of them away. Sin, I know! See bell peppers (not the green ones though as I don’t like them), is a new love for me. For years I wouldn’t eat them until I discovered roasted red peppers. WHA??? Where had these things been my whole life??? And since that I was a total bell pepper convert!
Yeah yeah yeah I know you don’t like Brussels Sprouts. They’re green and cabbage. Your mother only made them on Thanksgiving – boiled and swimming in a gallon of butter. They were mushy and even the dog turned it’s nose up at them when you tried sneaking them to it under the table. I heard it before because I said it before. I HAAAAAAAAAAAATED these things growing up. OMG it was absolute torture for me when I was told “Lori, you are not allowed to leave the table until you finish everything on your plate. ” In my whole life the longest I sat at that table was 2 hours. And it was hell. I had my own pity party. I whined. I then played with my food, to which I got in trouble for that. I begged the to eat it. Nope. Then over came my 40 pound Maine Coon cat. Yes 40 pounds. Folks this cat was pretty much the size of a medicine ball with legs. He was GINORMOUS but so loveable. He was, as my Dad would say, ‘lurpy’. Just very ‘do-di-doh’. lol
So over waddles this cat, rubbing against my legs, purring and eventually standing up on his fat ham-hock legs pawing at arm to give him a bite of food. Yes, you know where this is going. So I cut off a piece of that mushy, butter-laden Brussels sprouts and put it up to his mouth. He sniffed it, licked it once and then stopped. He then looked up at me, almost knowing I wasn’t going to eat it, took one for the team. That damn, beautious cat ate all of my Brussels Sprouts! He went to TOWN!
However to prove that I ate some and didn’t give it to the dog, I had to take the teeniest of bites as my Mom was going to check my mouth to make sure I at least ate some. So I did this, while suffering from certain pending death. Once I/the cat was done eating them I called into the living room with an angelic “I’m done”. Mom came out to the kitchen to inspect not the plate but rather she SMELLED the dog’s breath, checked the garbage and my mouth.
No for real, Brussels Sprouts are AMAZING!
