Happy Sunday TKW Family! So tell me how your past week has been?  Take a vacation perhaps or maybe just chill out at home?  Talk with me, dish about your life. Let’s get to know one another. Last week for us was hard and sad. Sadly my sister in law (my brother in law’s wife) passed away after battling cancer for a little over 3 years. Death is hard for as it is for most but I guess for me, having experienced it at such a young age with my parents and having tragic events happen in my life, I don’t handle it well. But then I suppose no one really does.

It broke my heart to see my niece, her daughter, who is only 15 just stand there eyes so swollen from crying looking just so lost. I know that feeling all too well as I was her when I, too, first experienced the loss of a loved one. Though I was 18, I was still a child really. My poor, sweet brother in law…one of the gentlest souls you’ll ever meet standing there putting on a brave face though you could see his pain.

Death, in a way, kind of opens your eyes to many things. It kind of makes you aware of your life, the people in your life and realize what’s truly important. And also, it forces you to have those conversations that you really don’t want to ever have…how to handle your time when you pass, wills, finances; almost a preparation of what to do when someone passes.

Never go a day without letting someone you love know that they are loved

Happy Sunday TKW Family! How’s this summer been treating you?  What’s the best thing you’ve done this summer thus far?  For me and this shoulder surgery my summer has been spent pretty much in a sling and in a recliner, however, I can’t complain too much as it really brought Mr. Fantabulous and me closer (if that’s even possible).

So I’m adult enough to admit it… I’m stubborn and extremely independent. Like my first day coming home from surgery, I was already starting with the “I can do it myself” spiel. To have someone wait on me and take care of me is tough as I simply don’t ask for things or even feel uncomfortable asking for help. It’s just not how I was raised. I was raised to be the one taking care of things, helping others, etc.

But this surgery, this surgery, it really humbled me and taught me it’s OK to ask for help (and ask for it multiple times). Mr. Fantabulous, God love him, has shown extreme patience with me. I’m a bad patient in the sense that I simply never liked being taken care of or more so ask for help. From putting my clothes on to washing my hair, from getting up every 3 hours to give me a pain pill to changing my ice packs every couple of hours Mr. Fantabulous never stopped and always, always did it with a smile.

How’s your summer been?

Happy Sunday TKW Family! Gosh, can you believe it’s already the middle of summer?  How are you spending your summer?  Vacation(s)? Family reunions? Or just working and chilling out in the evenings? For me (us) we’re staying home. Traveling while injured is not fun and it’s not fair to Mr. Fantabulous that I limit our fun because of this stupid surgery. We decided that come Octoberish I should be okay enough to take a vacation.

I’m kinda bummed as our anniversary is next month and he’s asking what I want to do/how I want to celebrate. I’ve always told him on our 10th anniversary (we’ve been together though 21 years) that I wanted to tour Italy for 2-3 weeks but that won’t be possible right now; not with the way I’m feeling. So we’ll wait until early 2018 to go.

Now for him when I asked him what he’d like he gives me the normal “I don’t need anything as long as I have you” (yeah he’s a keeper) buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut…. he’s been looking at lots (AND LOTS) of new guitar equipment. So I have a feeling that’s his not-so-subtle hint. #boysandtheirtoys lol

Favorite thing you’ve done so far this summer… GO~

Hey hey hey TKW Family!  Happy Sunday!  How are you peeps today? I’m one whooped puppy.  Even though we took the work off from all of our jobs to celebrate Mr. Fantabulous’ birthday it still wasn’t restful.  We got up early on Saturday morning, well okay I did, I let him sleep in.  Since we were going with a bunch of friends to support a gunbash I decided to whip up a batch of my salted caramel chocolate chunk cookies (see the instagram pic below). Now as you know where we live, nothing is close so we drove the 60+ miles to the bash. The gun bash was fun and this time the food was pretty good but the best was seeing our friends and seeing Mr. Fantabulous relax.  After that we met up with some other friends for dinner at this new brewery in Castle Shannon (Mindful Brewing for you Pittsburgh peeps).

It’s funny because Pittsburgh is truly a small town as we knew the manager of this place as he was one of our favorite managers at a different brewery. The food was pretty good.  I asked Matt, the manager, what he recommended. He advised Mr. Fantabulous on some beer and for me, since he knows I’m a food snob he recommended the fried chicken and waffles.  Now even though I’m not a huge waffles fan I took his advice.

Now this chicken, omg people… it was seriously good!  They pressure fry their chicken.  The skin was crispy and the meat was ridiculously moist. Like we’re talking so good that I want to buy a pressure fryer! But right now that’s not practical for me. I’d definitely go back to see Matt and get the chicken but I’d go earlier in the day as our wait was 2 hours annnnnnnnnd it was insanely loud. We’re talking so loud that you couldn’t hear the person sitting next to you. I actually left there with a headache (and still have one today).

Weekends need to be 4 days long!

Oh Sunday how I so wish you were Friday night.  I need about 5 straight days of a Friday nights.  What this means is I don’t have to work the next day and I have 2 straight days of not thinking. I keep telling myself…”only a few more months of this Lor, you can do this.” But it’s like it just never ends. However I keep looking on the bright side.  Soon enough this house will be done and I can actually take a break. And about the same time my critical project at work should be wrapping up which means I can maybe take a breather (in the form of a vacation).

Hold on a sec… I’m dreaming out a vacation.  It’s been a few years since we’ve taken a vacation. If I could go for 2 weeks I’d go to Italy and Paris. If I had 3 weeks… god I’ve love to go to Maldives. But if it’s for 7-10 days, I’ll head to Scottsdale. I just need sun and relaxation. But on my bucket list for sure, Maldives. God have you ever googled that place?  It truly looks like heaven on earth. It’s known for its beaches, blue lagoons and extensive reefs – like over 1000 coral reefs!  Though truth be told I’ve never snorkeled and the whole process of it scares/confuses me. It doesn’t make…sense. Plus also I’d freak out totally if something ‘touched’ me in the water. My luck a piece of seaweed would just barely graze my ankle and I’d have a heart attack thinking it was jaws.  LOL
