By now you’ve seen those packets of instant “just add mayo/buttermilk or sour cream” ranch mix. Pretty cool idea, right? Not rather wallet friendly though, huh? Sure it’s not super expensive but my motto is why buy if I can make it myself?! And most importantly, it’s a lot cheaper, I can control the ingredients AND it’s really, REALLY good!
I thought I had posted this a while ago but apparently I didn’t. Sorry ๐

Use this on chicken or fries right out of the fryer/oven Ranch chicken is INSANE! You can mix it in with your flour/Panko OR just season the nekkid bird with it before you grill or saute it.
Make this and tell me how you used it! I’d love to hear some of your creative ideas!
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH… stop the presses! I got an idea’r that I wanna share…
Put this in your pizza or bread dough! OMG… Can you imagine? Make a Buffalo Chicken Pizza and have the crust ranch flavored!!!

made the seasoning mix and added mix to fried potatoes along with sauteed chicken breast chucks and added left over fresh green bean salad. Made a great stir fry.
So happy you loved it! Thank you!

Iโm anxious to try this!! Looks great. Iโm wondering about making dressing. It says for dressing you use 1 cup of buttermilk. Iโm assuming I can make the buttermilk from the powder? Can I just add more buttermilk powder to the mix and then add water and mayo instead? Thanks!
Hi Scott!
So to make buttermilk from the buttermilk powder it’s generally 1 cup of water to 2-3 Tbl of buttermilk powder. In this recipe I’m showing you how to make the seasoning (dry mixture). Now to make the ranch dressing you’ll 1/4 cup of the seasoning mix, 1 cup of mayo and 1 cup of buttermilk. So you could use the water/buttermilk mixture to make the liquid part, then add the seasoning and mayo. So yes you’re assumptions are pretty accurate. Just get the buttermilk power to water ratio right.

The only butter milk powder I can buy in store says to refrigerate after opening . Can you let me know what brand you use?
Hi Dee!
I use this stuff from Amazon – no refrigeration required: http://amzn.to/2FIZpj7

How do ;you store the ranch seasoning? The buttermilk I have says it has to be refrigerated. Do you have a recipe without buttermilk? Would the other ingredient amounts be the same? Thanks Stephanie
Hi Stephanie,
Your buttermilk powder says to refrigerate it? Mine doesn’t; must be brand specific. I’ve never used the stuff that you have to refrigerate. You could possibly use regular milk powder (that doesn’t have to be refrigerated) though you wouldn’t get that zing from the buttermilk. However… you can use the same amount of dried milk powder (powdered milk in some states) and add in 1 1/2 tsp of white vinegar to your mixture (when you add the wet ingredients). This will add that extra โzingโ that buttermilk gives it.
Let me know if that helps you out!
