Happy Sunday TKW Family!  Brrrr it’s finally cold here in Pittsburgh! We still haven’t had snow yet; just a few flurries. But did you see that Atlanta got something like 9″ the other day. North Carolina as well got hit with snow yet we, who live in the snow belt got squat. Oh trust me, I’m not complaining as folks around here honestly can’t drive in snow. I mean I can get it if you’re new to the area and never had to deal with driving in snow but when folks who’ve grown up here, know the type of snow that we get and still do not get snow tires, kills me. I’m a truck girl but even if you have 4-wheeled drive and your butt is driving with summer tires, my car with snow tires will handle better in the snow. But I digress – ATL and NC – love you guys but you can keep the snow!  Merry Christmas!  LOL

Last week…. God what a blur. When you work in IT, there really is no down time. While most companies slow down around the holidays, IT never sleeps or stops. Even though we’re going into a code freeze (which means no production changes can be pushed through for 4 weeks), this is my super, SUPER busy time. I have to map out my projects for the next year, define my strategies and define the road map. Oh yeah, all the while fitting in my end of the year vacation. But I can’t complain too much as I have a job and more importantly I have a job that I actually really love.

Thursday night was an eventful night in my house. With us both being engineers we can never do things easy. We have to analyze stuff (to death), bring out our calculators, engineering paper and honestly, if we had a whiteboard in the room, that would have been brought out too. You see we’re finally at the point where we can start decorating (and using) the media and billiard room. Which meant we needed to buy a tv. We bought the tv and it was to be delivered the next day. Us, being us, we had to calculate the optimal viewing angle and distance for a 75″ tv. It got bad – like 3 hours bad. We literally broke it down to writing out equations trying to find the tangent and tilt ratios of the tv. 3 hours…

What’s your favorite Christmas cookie?

Happy Sunday TKW Family!  Wow, December already? Man time sure does fly and yet it feels like I’ve accomplished squat. I know it’s all an illusion and in my head but it seems as the older I get the faster time goes. Is that the same with you?  For me/for us our time is consumed by this house and remodeling it. I’ll tell you what guys I will never EVER take on a home remodel job on our own. Maybe if it’s a normal sized room or project but doing 4,000 sqft on our own (and that’s not including the kitchen or the 4 bedrooms) is out of the question. Maybe if I was in my 20’s but now that I’m in my 40’s, hell no. How Chip and Joanna do this for a living is beyond me. But then again they do have a whole crew and we have well, us.

The sad part is, we’re doing all of this work just to put the house on the market. The house wasn’t bad at all but it was dated and needed a facelift. I’ll tell you what, whomever buys this house will have one fantabulously awesome house. If only this house was located closer to my work we’d stay but the commute, even though I work from home the majority of the time, when I do go into the office is wretched. So the past what, 10 days or so I had off work. I didn’t do too much TKW but rather spent my time working on this house.

Are you all done with your holiday shopping? I haven’t even started. It’s funny as Mr. Fantabulous is a big kid when it comes to Christmas. He tells me one day “No honey, don’t get me anything; we’re spending a lot on the house.” to “oh honey, I’d love to have this, this and this!  Oh and this too!” lol Ah my manchild. LOL I love how giddy he gets around the holidays and gets into it. When we’re working on the downstairs he always has on Christmas music and plans our evenings around what holiday cartoon is on.

Do you have a favorite Christmas movie/cartoon?

Happy New Year and Happy Sunday TKW Family! So should I whisper type this to you in case you were out way too late last night and had 7 too many drinks? *wink*  Oh trust me I’ve been there… in my twenties but now that I’m *covers her mouth and mouths her age* years old I’m past that “scene” if you will. Last night we had such a great New Year’s Eve with 2 of our closest friends.  I’ve known Leslie since kindergarten and her husband Paul we’ve known now for what, 6-7 years I think? Two kind-hearted and down to earth people who just are a blast to hang out with. We went to their house for some snacks, pizza and some New Year’s Eve Pretzel (see below).  So what did we do besides laugh til I thought I was going to pee my pants – played board games.  Yep just simple board games – Trouble, Yahtzee (which Mr. Fantabulous LOOOOOOOOOOOVES though I swear the only reason he loves it is that he can shake that damn dice shaker for like 15 minutes straight) and I think something else though it escapes my mind.

I lost every game though honestly laughing as much as we did, it was worth it.

At midnight and the kisses and hugs were given we sliced into my New Year’s Eve Pretzel.  Now this, I think, is a Pittsburgh tradition as I’ve only ever really heard of it here.  It’s kind of like how Pork & Sauerkraut is a PA Dutch tradition for New Years, the pretzel is the same thing.  They are supposed to bring you good luck. To make sure we all got a lot of good luck, we ate almost the whole thing! LOL It’s pretty straight forward to make – just a basic sweet dough with a light glaze and sprinkles.  Now I’ve seen them with cherries in/on them as well as raisins but you all know this child is not gonna put those demon seeds in something if I’m going to eat it.  And as for the raisins, I prefer it plain – we all do.

Wishing you love, health, happiness and deliciousness in the new year!

Happy Sunday and Merry Christmas TKW Family!  So this is an odd posting today.  So like since like forever I’ve been posting a weekly menu every Sunday. However today is a special Sunday as it’s also Christmas.  So do I like post my normal menu?  Do I skip it and post a personal Christmas one?  Do I join them together?  Or do both and give you 2 posts in one day?

Today you’re getting 2 posts as while I can chit chat all day in this one, I can keep the other one more personal.

So it’s Christmas! Wow, time sure snuck up on us didn’t it?  I was hoping for  white Christmas as it has been years since we had one here in Pittsburgh however tis not the case.  I think that’ll be the hardest thing to get used to once we move – no snow at Christmas, no change in the leaves but that’s okay; life is about change and honestly as long as you have Christmas in you heart, you don’t need the snow, right?

This past week was cray-cray for me!  I was home all week and while you’d  have thought I would be baking up a storm, you’d be so wrong.  I was so super busy around the house with Mr. Fantabulous putting down the tile flooring in the bar/kitchenette downstairs.  Seriously I’m so over Lowes, Home Depot and anything home improvement. Last week Mr. Fantabulous said he was going to be gone almost all day as his best friend wanted to go to the range and the hang out for the day.  Now I was over the moon about this as while I love that man dearly even I need some ‘me’ time.  I figured I’d get some cookies baked, stuff done around the house, work done on my site (I’m doing a COMPLETE redesign right now – I can’t wait for you to see it!!!) and then have almost the whole day to myself. So we both left the house at 9:30 heading in the same direction – kind of like where I live, there’s one way in/one way out essentially if you want civilization. We both stopped and got gas, kissed one another good bye and went our separate ways.

Now I know what you’re thinking “Lowes or Home Depot Lor?” – yeah.. so all I had to do was return a lightbulb we just bought 2 nights prior (you know since I was there 4 days in a row) that burnt out.  And since it was one of the hood lights I needed it.  So he swears up and down he bought it at Lowes… I go in annnnnnnnnnnnd yeah no, wrong store.  Twas not happy.  After that I stopped at my other stores I had to go to eventually hitting up Home Depot to swap the lights.  It’s sad when they recognize you as you walk in and then ask where you other half is.  Seriously, so over home improvement!  LOL  Anyway, after that I took myself to lunch.. yep all by myself.  It’s funny as I have some friends that would neeeeeeeeeeever go to lunch by themselves.  Why?  You have to eat?  It’s like they are afraid people are going to think they are unloved or what not.  Hell for me it’s an absolute treat!  It’s quiet time and I don’t have to do the dishes!  Anyway, remember my saying I left the house at 9:30am???? Yeah… my butt didn’t get home until 4:30!  Yes 4 friggen 30!  All day!  How in the hell was I gone all day?  Funny part was for as mad as I was about it, I had no one to blame but myself.  Though okay I did text Mr. Fantabulous and sorta blame him and those “damn stores”  LOL  He just laughed as asked if I still needed help carrying all of the stuff out of my trunk.

Yeah… I bought A LOT.

After that I made myself some dinner and chilled out on the recliner for the rest of the night.  Talk about heaven!  Though yes I did miss him; always do when he’s not here. Anyway, I should get going and get some stuff done.

Merry Christmas TKW Family!  Love you!

Hey TKW Family!  Happy glorious Sunday to you!  So wow, one week til Christmas.  I know, right?!  Are you ready?  Me?  Nope.  And of course Mr. Fantabulous is upset with me because I’m not giving him any ideas on stuff to get me.  Here’s the thing… there’s nothing I want or need; really.  I’m not a materialistic person and I’m not one for ‘things’.  Sure there’s always kitchen stuff or camera stuff however since I run TKW, my company buys all that stuff.  That’s about the only downside of turning this into a company – less options on things to buy me.  Now of course I did say the usual “a pig” to which I get the usual eye roll response but honestly there is nothing I want.

I’d rather see others open presents than me.  So what about you, what are you hoping Santa brings you?

So I’m on vacation all week.  I actually started last Thursday to which I’ve already been drug to Home Depot 3 times and Lowes 4 (twice in one day!). I’ve also been busy in the kitchen.  Friday Mr. Fantabulous spent almost the entire day down at the other building which meant I had the whole house to myself.  I don’t think I left the kitchen til maybe 7pm that night – and I was up at 5am!  If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen the ton of pics I posted that day of all of the new recipes.
Santa’s coming! Santa’s coming!!!
