Cheesy Chicken Cordon Bleu Noodle Casserole Recipe

All the flavors of the classic dish with savory chicken, smoky ham, and melty Swiss cheese, but transformed into a creamy, cheesy, noodle-packed casserole that will instantly become a family favorite!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked, shredded chicken
  • 4 ounces wide egg noodles, cooked al dente per the package’s instructions
  • 3/4 cup deli ham, chopped
  • 5 1/2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 3 Tablespoons AP flour
  • 1 3/4 cups milk, warmed
  • 3/4 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley
  • 1 1/4 cup shredded Swiss Cheese
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly spray an 8×8 baking dish; set aside.
  2. Make the mornay sauce by putting 3 Tablespoons of butter into a saucepan over medium heat. Once the butter melts and is foamy, add the flour, whisking it in completely, and cook for 2 minutes. Slowly pour the warm milk in while whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  3. Add in the mustard powder, kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, whisking to combine. Continue to cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens. ~2-4 minutes. Remove from the heat and add half the cheese in, whisking to melt in. Once the cheese is melted, add the rest of the chees,e stirring to combine.
  4. To assemble the casserole, add the cooked noodles to a large bowl. Add in the chicken, ham, and parsley. Mix to combine. Pour in the Swiss Cheese sauce and mix to coat evenly. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  5. Melt the remaining 2 1/2 Tablespoons of butter and add them to the breadcrumbs. Mix to combine. Sprinkle the buttered breadcrumbs all over the top of the casserole.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and toasty.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
