Can I tell you I so love Christmas time! Like I immediately regress to that 6 year old curly haired blue eyed little girl in her white and snowflake printed nightgown that sat on her Daddy’s lap every night to hear him read ‘Twas the night before Christmas’ every night for the whole month of December. Even when Daddy was exhausted he was never too tired to read that to me. That was our time and something that I will always cherish. Last year this time I was cleaning out some boxes and I found my old book. Immediately tears started pouring down my cheeks. Not because of sadness but because it touched my heart and immediately filled me with love and joy. Yes, I had a grinch-type moment I suppose. I sat right down on that floor and read the worn pages cover to cover.
I didn’t hear Mr. Fantabulous come into the room but apparently he stood there the whole time watching me as those tears were streaming down my face. At first he thought I was upset but he could see that through the tears my eyes lit up like the night sky and I had a smile from ear to ear. He said it was one of the most beautiful things he had ever seen. As if he could see my Dad through me.
So how was your week last week? Mine started off really good – busy at work (which I love), awesome work outs and just normal holiday stuff but then we received some pretty heart wrenching news about a family member. On top of that Mr. Fantabulous got super sick to the point I was ready to take him to the hospital. The man rarely gets a fever but when it was well over 100 I was worried. But I gave him Tylenol every 4 hours until the fever broke and now he’s back (somewhat) to his old self. I made him some of my Mama’s turkey soup which he loved and made him stay in bed for over 24 hours.
Unfortunately with him being so sick and the upsetting news we were given about a family member (it’s not good), I missed the All-Clad sale. This is the first time in 10+ years that I missed it. But family comes first. While I love their products, my family is all I have. I even missed getting together with one of my oldest girlfriends who was in town. I know she understood but I hate disappointing people. So Irene and Mike, I love you guys and hope we can get together very soon!
However I did have some awesome news this week! My Potato chip rice crispy treat triple-chocolate bark is featured on Redbook Magazine’s Website! Awesome, I know, right!!!
It’s such an honor when someone recognizes your work, your passion.. your dream.
Other than that, I have a ton of recipes to get done for this Countdown to Christmas daily posting that I do plus I’m trying to wrap up several things at work before I go on vacation. Oh yeah.. and start some type of Christmas shopping!
Here’s to you having one amazing week!
Best Kitchen Wishes!
