My weekly menu is out. My goal is to help inspire you and to break out of that rut of Taco Tuesday, Wing Thursday and Pizza Friday. Go beyond the ordinary and go for something new!
What a week it was last week has been to say the least! With Monday being my first day back in the office since Mr. Fantabulous’ surgery it was pretty rough. I still hadn’t caught up on my sleep and I hadn’t worked out in almost a week my body was feeling it. Plus it was my first day away from him since his surgery. Yes I know he’s a grown man but he’s all I have in the world and he was still in so much pain. But he was at the point that he was able to get up and out of bed on his own so all I really had to worry about was him eating. So I made a few plates of things up and put them in the fridge for him.
Off to workout I went and dear God my body missed it. Seriously even though I was just exhausted and sluggish about 10 minutes into it I felt my endorphins kick in I was starting to feel ‘normal’ again. I think the worst part of Monday was waiting for my phone to ring from him. I didn’t want to call him for fear of waking him up. So once he called and said he was okay and just sticking with Tylenol I could breathe a little easier. I know I spoil him but it’s what I do to just about anyone in my life.
Work was the same, busy and chaotic but that’s just how I like it. I’d rather be busy than dead as I can’t sit still and just do nothing. I’m that person that as a child their parents would say “Would you sit still?! I swear you have ants in your pants.” Yes, as a child I did actually look once to make sure that I did not have ants in my pants. Yes I was a literal child. LOL
Later in the week we went out for custard (3 times cause that’s his favorite) and then I had to make stuff for one of my brother’s 60th birthday party. 60, geesh… when did we get to those ages? Now granted he’s still a significant amount older than ( (15 years) but still. At his party on Saturday we all were talking about ages and stuff. When we were little we used to think 50 or 60 was ancient and just so old. Like crypt-keeper old and now that we are middle-aged 50 or 60 isn’t old. 90 or well, death is old. LOL Now watch in 10 years we’ll think the next decade is old, not ours.
Thing is, I think age is truly just a number. It’s irrelevant. I base it on how I feel, how I look and just my overall well-being. I can say this, being 45 I’m in the best shape of my life and have more energy than ever. And sure there are days when we ‘feel’ our age. Things creak and crack when we move, we groan or grunt and sometimes things are just an effort – like every day I have to put pants back on after my workout. Seriously hate that!
But the party was a blast and it was nice to see my family as I rarely get to see them. And of course it wouldn’t be a family party without more food than a supermarket.
So here’s to you (and I) having an amazing week! Make it awesome!
