Happy Sunday TKW Family!  How are things in your world? So guess who just realized that Labor day is only a couple of weeks away? Yeah, this girlie. Dear God, my entire summer…wasted on this stupid shoulder surgery. Well okay it wasn’t wasted as it definitely needed done but my entire summer was spent stuck in a recliner, going to PT or to the doctors. Ugh…

So tell me about your summer!  Did you go away?  Where do?  What’s the BEST THING YOU DID THIS SUMMER? Let me live vicariously through you. Actually my summer wasn’t that bad, aside from the pain, it was pretty good. I got to spend so much time with Mr. Fantabulous that it just made us even closer (if that’s even possible). But it was nice, you know?

Tell me about your summer!

Happy Sunday TKW Family! So when it comes to Sundays do you consider them to be the end of your week or the beginning of your week? I’ve always been taught that Sunday was the beginning of the week as that’s how it’s displayed on calendars. However as I get older I’m beginning to change my thinking and look at Sundays being the end of the week; your final day of relaxation and ‘me’ time. Mondays signified the back-to-the-grind start of the week. Now these past almost 2 months while I’ve been off recuperating my days seem to just blur together. Like the other day I was sitting at the kitchen island and I literally had to stop and think about what day it actually was. For the life of me I couldn’t remember and had to get up and look at my phone.

Old timers? Perhaps but I’m not used to being home/off work this long. My routine is so off that it’s not even funny. But anyway, how was your week? Ours wasn’t too bad. We ended up scoring a SUPER awesome outdoor water fountain for the house. We have been looking for one for years to place outside our main entry but never found one we really liked. They were all too small or rinky dinky looking. And the ones I wanted, you know the huge cement ones that weighed a bajillion pounds were almost insulting expensive. Anyway. last week while I was scrolling through my facebook feed I saw that this estate sale company was having a 3-day estate sale in my area. I looked through the pictures as I’m on the lookout for 2 round pub tables for downstairs but they didn’t have any. As I was about to click off I saw in the post that they had a large outdoor water fountain for sale too. I sent the lady a message and asked for a pic and the price.  Later that night she posted a pic of a GORGEOUS fountain and get this… the price was $100!  Unfortunately she said she couldn’t sell it to me ahead of the sale as that’s a violation of her contract.  I get it….

I explained to the woman about my surgery and she said I could come an hour early to look at it to avoid someone walking into me but I couldn’t buy it until the sale started. Mr. Fantabulous and I got there only to fall in love with it but we started with the “do you think it’ll fit?  It looks really, really big!”. Since the place was maybe 10 minutes from our house we hopped in the car and went home to measure. Yeah… it would fit easily and we could go even bigger if we wanted. So back into the car we went and got back to the sale, about 20 minutes prior to the doors opening.

Have you ever been to an estate sale?

Hey TKW Family!  Happy Sunday! Dear Lord can I tell you just how horrible the weather has been here in Pittsburgh? We’re talking rain and not that itty bitty rain or those 20 minute long showers. Oh no, we have torrential downpours that last for hours. I swear at one point I was ready to build an ark. You can check out some of the Instagram pics I posted down below but man was it rough (and wet).

With all that rain we were pretty much house-bound. However, it was kind of cool as we spent time in the kitchen and watched a bajillion things. So we’ve been hooked on Naked and Afraid to the point that we’ve watched all 7 seasons AND the XL series. It’s funny as we’ll talk about how we’d handle it or what would be our one personal item we were allowed to bring. For him, depending on the location it was either a mosquito net or fire starter. Me…mine is lip gloss. LOL However I’d want some type of Swiss Army type lip gloss that had a bajillion secret compartments where it would hold shoes, a bazooka (something has to kill the creepy crawly things), an umbrella and a toothbrush. LOL

I mean the whole premise of the show is actually pretty cool. Sure it’s about survival against the most extreme elements and all, along with team-building skills but I see it as so much more. Essentially these people are conquering a fear they have albeit a fear of the dark or fear of personal belief.

Would you do Naked and Afraid?

Happy Sunday TKW Family! So tell me how your past week has been?  Take a vacation perhaps or maybe just chill out at home?  Talk with me, dish about your life. Let’s get to know one another. Last week for us was hard and sad. Sadly my sister in law (my brother in law’s wife) passed away after battling cancer for a little over 3 years. Death is hard for as it is for most but I guess for me, having experienced it at such a young age with my parents and having tragic events happen in my life, I don’t handle it well. But then I suppose no one really does.

It broke my heart to see my niece, her daughter, who is only 15 just stand there eyes so swollen from crying looking just so lost. I know that feeling all too well as I was her when I, too, first experienced the loss of a loved one. Though I was 18, I was still a child really. My poor, sweet brother in law…one of the gentlest souls you’ll ever meet standing there putting on a brave face though you could see his pain.

Death, in a way, kind of opens your eyes to many things. It kind of makes you aware of your life, the people in your life and realize what’s truly important. And also, it forces you to have those conversations that you really don’t want to ever have…how to handle your time when you pass, wills, finances; almost a preparation of what to do when someone passes.

Never go a day without letting someone you love know that they are loved

Happy Sunday TKW Family! How’s this summer been treating you?  What’s the best thing you’ve done this summer thus far?  For me and this shoulder surgery my summer has been spent pretty much in a sling and in a recliner, however, I can’t complain too much as it really brought Mr. Fantabulous and me closer (if that’s even possible).

So I’m adult enough to admit it… I’m stubborn and extremely independent. Like my first day coming home from surgery, I was already starting with the “I can do it myself” spiel. To have someone wait on me and take care of me is tough as I simply don’t ask for things or even feel uncomfortable asking for help. It’s just not how I was raised. I was raised to be the one taking care of things, helping others, etc.

But this surgery, this surgery, it really humbled me and taught me it’s OK to ask for help (and ask for it multiple times). Mr. Fantabulous, God love him, has shown extreme patience with me. I’m a bad patient in the sense that I simply never liked being taken care of or more so ask for help. From putting my clothes on to washing my hair, from getting up every 3 hours to give me a pain pill to changing my ice packs every couple of hours Mr. Fantabulous never stopped and always, always did it with a smile.

How’s your summer been?
