Hey TKW Family! What’s shakin’ in your world? This week was rough; not so much work-wise but more that both Mr. Fantabulous and I were sick. He, sadly, more so than I. Monday I called him when I was about 30 minutes from home and he said that his throat was a little sore. I reminded him where the cough drops were and that I’d be home soon. Folks literally in 30 minutes he went from “My throat is a little sore” to being in bed, with a fever and sick as a dog. Completely congested and feeling like utter crap. I came in and went ‘Um.. you were okay 30 minutes ago and now you’re that sick? Really???’ but I felt his head and he was burning up. So I gave him some medicine and tucked him in.
I went about my way picking up the house and making dinner only to 3 hours later going for feeling perfectly fine to having my head in the toilet, pressure in my head and a high fever. And that’s when I understood that yes in a very short amount of time why he went from ok to sick as a dog. I was so sick that I actually took off of work; something I never do. Thing is, I really don’t get sick. Sure I’ll get sniffles or what not but not enough for me to miss work. By the next night I was much better, well enough to head back to work the following day. However my baby even to today, 6 days later is still pretty sick. It’s just a bad, bad cold however it’s one that will knock you on your butt.
So while we were both sick we took 2 different approaches to food. He wanted only soup, banana popsicles and or scrambled eggs (but he didn’t want these until day 3) where as I wanted to eat everything in sight even though let’s just say it wasn’t in my system long. Thing is I couldn’t taste anything but I wanted food… and lots of it. But for me I wanted salty or sweet stuff…. both at the same time.
So I think Thursday night when I got home from work Mr. Fantabulous met me in the kitchen looking as pitiful as pitiful can get. Sweatpants, t-shirt, red nose, watery eyes and the most saddest face ever! I kissed him on his forehead and told him to get back into bed. He then asked me to make him something to eat but to remember that he’s “still thick” – (still sick in stuffed up nose language). I said “How about some tomato soup and grilled cheese?” He smiled, said ok but then said to not put a lot of cheese on it. He’s not a big cheese fan like I am. So I make the soup and the grilled cheese and as I take it in to bed to him he gives the soup a look then me “the look” and goes “Um this does not look like Campbell’s!” Yeah, he said THAT to ME! I kinda got miffed and said “Have you ever EVER known me to buy canned anything? Seriously? Eat the soup and go to bed.” He picked up his spoon and took a bite (which looked like it was against his will for how slow he did it). Well as soon as that hit his mouth his eyes got HUGE and immediately a smile formed. And as he was pulling the spoon from his mouth he let out a ‘Mmmm!’. I just smiled and he took another so I got up to walk away only to hear him say “Are you sure this isn’t Campbell’s???”
I stopped turned around to answer him but folks what he was doing was so utterly adorable I couldn’t do anything but smile. He had a spoon in one hand, grilled cheese point in the other dipping and biting away almost in a dancing kinda motion. He muttered something else about how he can’t believe it’s not canned soup so I just walked away muttering ‘triple dose of nyquil, pillowcase full of bars of soap and the excavator.. they’ll never find him. Canned soup my butt!’ LOL Lord give me strength with that child I swear! HAHA Tis never a dull moment with him.
Let’s see what else? Oh Oh Oh! Today we finished up hanging the last piece of blueboard downstairs!!! Now we have to take all the tools, scrap and crap out of there so we (meaning he) can start putting up cornerbead. It’s finally getting done! WOO HOO!
This week I also introduced 2 new Editors on my Facebook page, Latesha and Paul. TKW is taking off by leaps and bounds and I’m now at the point where I need help with it. They are great folks and real people which is what the TKW family is about. They are there to chit chat, carry on conversations and answer questions if I can’t be there for some reason. I’m still as active on there as I’ve been but by having them gives me a little more time to work on more recipes and find a publisher to work with as I really want to issue out a cookbook. It’s on my bucket list.
Well folks it’s late i the day and I haven’t created one thing today. With working mandatory OT on Saturdays my weekends are rough trying to squeeze everything in. I’m off to the kitchen as I want to make some new protein power balls and bars for my workouts this week. I’ve been eating a lot of bread this past week and I feel bloated so having this post work out or as a snack will certainly help out.
Here’s to you and I having a deliciously awesome week!
