Wow… it’s the week of Christmas already! Holy cow, where did the time go? Here’s another addition of the weekly menu. So are you all ready for a visit from St. Nick? Got your cookies made, presents wrapped, house decorated? Take a minute to yourself, grab some cocoa and just close your eyes and take a breath. You got this! Cherish these times, even the chaotic ones.
So how was your week last week? Mine was rather eventful though not in a good way. You know, I swear at times I have this black cloud over top of my head. I mean c’mon karma, give me a break. Last Monday night after work Mr. Fantabulous and I were heading to the gym. I was driving. Now it wasn’t bad out, just cold. Well a long story short a 6 point buck decided to jump in front of and on my car. I swear to God it felt like I hit a tank! The buck went flying into the oncoming traffic to which it took out that guys driver’s side of his SUV. Immediately I pulled over as the deer destroyed my front end taking out pretty much everything. Not even a minute later as we heard a loud crash. An oncoming car was rubber-necking the accident wasn’t paying attention and ended up rear-ending the guy who’s SUV the deer took out! I know, right! Crazy! Unfortunately that car then took off leaving that SUV even more damaged. Who does that? I mean really!
As for injuries, it wouldn’t be my life if I didn’t end up injured in some fashion. Mr. Fantabulous ended up with a pretty sore shoulder. I, on the other hand, was taken by ambulance to the ER for head, neck and shoulder injuries. So I have a question to all of your EMT and medical folks out there… where in the hell are the shocks on your ambulances? I swear to God it felt like I was being drug over boulders. Shouldn’t they be like pillow-soft on the road?
After the x-rays, ct scans and what not I was fortunate. I ended up with whiplash, a concussion and something wrong with my shoulder. I say something as there isn’t anything broken or fractured but there may be a possibility of something torn. I have to wait to see the ortho to get it checked out.
BUT we are safe and sound. Thank you all for your love, prayers and well wishes. You know me, I’m tough and stubborn and am not going to let some stupid deer break my spirit *wink*
To look at a silver lining through all of this, if it had to happen it happened at the right time. I’m on vacation now so no missed work. Sure I hadn’t planned on spending it here or in pain but I have my baby with me, tons of Christmas movies and “me” time. It doesn’t matter where you spend the holidays, what you eat or how much you spend. For me it’s about who I’m with and the memories I create.
Here’s to you having an AMAZING week and blessed Christmas!
Best Kitchen Wishes!
