So did you survive the holidays, the family gatherings, the endless amounts of food, the hustle and bustle of last week?  Better yet, is your house back in order?  How is it that literally an hour or so of gift opening can leave your house in utter disarray? We decorate for weeks, cook for hours on end, bake enough cookies to feed an army and in a blink of an eye that single day we’ve wait for all year-long is over with.  Where’d it go?

Now don’t get me wrong as I am 4 years old when it comes to Christmas that’s how much I love it but I am so ready for the holidays to be over.  Why?  The food!  Since the car accident I haven’t been able to work out for 2 weeks.  TWO WHOLE WEEKS folks!  And since I was on vacation those 2 weeks all I did was eat!  LOL  All I know is I cannot wait to start back on Monday at the gym.  Even if it’s just to spin I have to do something.  I’m not one to just lounge around but these killer headaches and the shoulder pain pretty much knocked me on my butt.  The only good part of it all was I was able to catch up on True Blood (yes I’m that behind).  But along with that, all I did was look at Pinterest… and eat.  And not even healthy stuff.  I know, right!  That’s so not me but I’m not going to beat myself up for it.  Just a minor speed bump.  I’ll get it back in no time.  I’ll just treat it as a total body rest.

With New Year’s Eve in a few days, do you have plans?  Perhaps a party?  Maybe a night on the town?  Or if you’ve been like us the past few years, sitting in your jammies fighting to stay awake to watch the ball drop.  I can remember growing up thinking that it was just so magical to watch the ball drop and see Dick Clark’s special. I can remember saying “someday I’m going to spend NYE in Times Square and party with those folks.”  So if you’ve never done it, do it but be safe.  I did it in my twenties.  It was cool but for a girl who is so not a crowd-type-person I will never EVER do it again.  WAY too many people for me and just too … much. But it’s just something I wanted to check off my bucket list.

With the new year comes all of those infamous resolutions.  Let’s see, what are the classics

– lose weight
– quit smoking
– go back to school
– work out more

… The thing is with resolutions they never last.  I’ve never been one to believe in them.  For me, I look at it as making a change.  It should be a shock, it should be  hard and it should be attainable.  A resolution to hit the lottery is not realistic.  But losing weight, that is an attainable change.  It’s about making a lifestyle change and if you want to make a resolution, make one to stick with it even through the bad times, the plateaus. Anything work having is worth working for.

But this year when you’re making those resolutions, make a selfless one.  Make a change to smile more, be more patient, kind, give back.  If you see someone in need, help out.  It doesn’t have to be financially – just listening can be priceless to someone. Just be humane to one another. We all have to live on the same planet together.

So for me I won’t be making any resolutions again but rather I’ll vow to continue forward with my dreams – get the last bit of weight off, continue with my workouts, taking TKW to the next level and continue to be real.  I’ll continue to love Mr. Fantabulous with every breath I take, to be genuine, to give everything my all and to never stop believing.

Here’s to you and I in 2015!  Let’s make it better than the years gone by!  Now let’s eat!
