So I have a confession.  I seriously am in LOVE with DOVE®.  Imagine the smile I got on my face when I was asked to create a recipe around their new DOVE® Chocolate Fruit & Nut products.  No seriously, it was so big I don’t think my face could contain it.  LOL You see what I love about these items is that they are totally portable so I can throw them in my purse, my gym back and backpack when I’m out on the trail. So to add a bit more crunch and POW to my go-to snack, I decided to make some DOVE® Chocolate Fruit and Nut Granola Trail Mix which is perfect for the car, your purse, your gym bag or your desk drawer when that 2pm craving hits! But wait, make sure you turn on your printer and grab yourself this money saving coupon for it!

IMMEDIATELY I knew what I wanted to make with them so I jumped in the car and headed to my local Walmart to pick up my supplies.

I’ve said this umpteen times before but one of my favorite things about my local Walmart is how well the aisles are marked.. ON BOTH ENDS of the aisles!  This is super important to me as I’m one that doesn’t have much free time so traipsing up and down the aisles searching for something that apparently is in some other unmarked part of that store.  THANKFULLY Walmart is nothing like those other stores! Things are clearly marked and there is always a friendly worker to help you if need be.

I grabbed a few bags of their new fruit and nut flavors (honestly because I couldn’t pick just one… LOL) and a bag of their DOVE® Dark Chocolate Cranberries.  OMG they are AMAZING!  Like they need to make a gunther-sized bag just for me!  Seriously delicious! Also while I was there you can’t have trail mix with out well, ‘trail’ so I grabbed some regular granola, slivered almonds and raisins.  What’s awesome about this recipe is that you can customize with as many or as little add-ins as you want.  Maybe add in some pumpkin or sunflower seeds too!

Fruit and Nuts Granola Trail Mix1

When I say anyone can make this recipe, I really mean it… ANYONE can. You cannot burn it, undercook, over bake, over beat, whatever too much/not enough. Why? The only thing you need to know how to do is open up bags, dump items into a bowl, stir with a spoon and portion out into smaller travel containers. Seriously, that’s it.

Fruit and Nuts Granola Trail Mix2

So needless to say that’s exactly what I did.  I put my granola into a big bowl, topped it with some sliced almonds, raisins and then 2 bags of the DOVE® Chocolate Fruit & Nut and some of the DOVE® Dark Chocolate Cranberries.  Okay fine, yes… not exactly “all” went into the bowl.  Some pieces kinda-sorta-fell-into-my-mouth-before-they-could-hit-the-bowl.  Geesh  just beat it out of me why don’t ya! LOL I can’t help it!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE these things! That would be why you don’t see any DOVE® Dark Chocolate Raspberry & Honey Roasted Almond in the mix.  Those stayed out as I kept snacking on them while I was making this recipe. I couldn’t help myself.  They are soooooooo good!!!

A quick stir and I was ready to dive in face first.  Now you can easily keep it in that big bowl but for the sake or portion control keep it in smaller containers. This way it’s portable and perfect for on the go!

Fruit and Nuts Granola Trail Mix8

For me the perfect portion size was 1 cup.  In this cup you had your crunchy granola pieces, those amazing DOVE® Chocolate Fruit & Nut pieces, some sliced almonds and so forth.  And every single bite was different than the last.  If you look in my purse you’d find a smaller container of this.  In my gym bag 2 small plastic baggies as well.  And in my desk drawer… yep, another container.  You see that’s what I love about this trail mix – portability! As you all know I live a fit lifestyle but don’t deprive myself of being rewarded amazing foods for my hard work. Join me in 2016 to either continue living or to start living a healthier lifestyle. And most importantly realize that it’s OK to reward yourself for all of your hard work and dedication.  These portable containers of trail mix is the perfect way to say “Way To Go!”, “You Got This!” or “Look at you Beautiful for making a change to be fit!”‘ with the amazing chocolate and real fruit of DOVE® Chocolate Fruit & Nut.

I mean just look at that picture below!  Tell you you don’t just want to dive into it face first and not come up until the entire bowl is gone?!

I actually made a double batch the 2nd time I made this because Mr. Fantabulous and I immediately fell in love with it!  I literally had to make a his and her batch.  He had his container and I had mine however somehow mine kept going up and his remained the same.  LOL

So go out, hit up your local Walmart, grab a few bags of DOVE® Chocolate Fruit and Nut, some granola and make your own trail mix!  Not only will you fall in love with this recipe but also be surprised just how easy it is to make!  For inspiration on your own flavor check out their MyConfectionCorner!

LOVE this idea of putting it into portioned control packs and putting one in my purse for those emergency cravings and another in my gym bag!

This was so good! I made this with your nutty granola and the raspberry Dove chocolate fruit and nut too. I’m so happy I listened to you and portioned these out into individual containers otherwise I would have seriously eaten the entire bowl! WOW such a great treat to keep in my gym bag and purse!

    You rock TKW!

This looks absolutely delicious! I love your thinking about making up a big batch and then portioning it out into individual containers to carry in my gym bag and keep in my desk. My kids will go nuts over this as a treat in their lunch boxes too.

    Awesome idea!

What a great idea to portion out the granola and keep it where you most need it! I am always on the run, so having some in the car or my purse would be a life saver on those days when I am driving from appointment to appointment! #client

Thank you so much Stephanie! I keep container in my gym bag, another in my purse for those days when I’m stuck in traffic for hours and a container in my desk drawer when I want a snack.

      Best Kitchen Wishes!
