The best thing about summer is all the fresh fruits and veggies! Whether I buy it from the farmer’s market, grab it in the grocery store, or even buy it in bulk at Sam’s club I love the stuff.
However, unless I grow the stuff myself I’m very skeptical of what the stuff is grown in or how clean it is.
Sure stores have those sprayers built in but still, *I’m* not cleaning it. And yes, you can buy the pre-made stuff in the bottles but seriously – that stuff is EXPENSIVE and I’m sorry I still don’t believe that it’s 100% “natural”.
I’m frugal and like knowing what I’m putting into my body that’s why I came up with my own homemade veggie and fruit spray.
It’s all-natural and no chemicals. Plus it works.
Now sure you can use straight vinegar but let’s be honest, it stinks. And you can dilute it BUT to me, it still leaves that vinegar taste on the foods.
And while some of you may think plain ol’ water is good, it’s not. So for me, I make my own concoction, put it in a spray bottle, and clean my fruits and veggies with it before I’m ready to eat or use them.
So today on Tuesday’s Tip with The Kitchen Whisperer I’m sharing with you my Homemade Veggie And Fruit Spray Wash.
Grab your ingredients
All you need are 4 things
- Large Spray bottle
- 2 Cups room temperature water (if your bottle is small cut it down to 1 cup) *distilled is best
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice (if your bottle is small cut it down to 1 tablespoon)
- 2 tablespoon baking soda (if your bottle is small cut it down to 1 tablespoon)
That’s it!
Let’s Make Veggie & Fruit All-Natural Spray Wash
- Put the lemon juice and baking soda in the spray bottle. It will foam up.
- Add in half of the water, close the lid and gently shake.
- Next, add in the rest of the water leaving about 1 1/2″ of space at the top of the bottle.
- Close the lid and shake again.
How to Use Fruit Wash
- To use just spray the fruits and veggies with the wash
- Let it sit for 5 minutes and then rinse with clean water.
- Pat dry and enjoy!
How To Store Homemade Wash
Since this has lemon juice in it, it needs to go into the fridge.
