Let’s be honest: if you’re like me, there are some nights when the last thing you want to do is make a huge dinner. You want something delicious but without the effort.
This is the sauce I reach for when I have zero plan but still want something scrumptious! It’s sweet and sticky, with just enough garlic punch to make any meal shine. This is my “secret weapon” in the kitchen. This is one you’re going to want in your arsenal!
Easy Honey Garlic Sauce Ingredients
One of the things that makes this so easy is that it’s made entirely from things most of us all already have in our pantry. It’s rich and decadent and so easy to throw together.
- Butter
- Honey
- Minced Garlic
- Brown Sugar
- Liquids: rice wine vinegar, water, soy sauce
- Red flakes
- Water
How to Make Honey Garlic Glaze
This sauce takes only about 10 minutes to prepare; maybe a few minutes longer if you don’t have a garlic press and you have to mince the garlic by hand. But trust me, it’s so worth it!
- In a saucepan over medium heat, add the butter. Once the butter has melted and begun to foam, add the garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant. If need be, turn the heat to low so as not to burn the garlic.
- Add in the honey, light brown sugar, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Bring it just to a boil, then reduce the heat to a low simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
- In a separate container, whisk together the water and cornstarch to create a slurry.
- Bring the honey mixture back to a gentle boil and then pour in the slurry, whisking constantly. If it starts to foam up, lower the heat. Cook for another minute or two. Test whether the mixture coats the back of the spoon.
- Once coated, remove from the heat and use immediately, or allow to cool completely before transferring to a lidded container for storage in the fridge.

- Dip the back of a spoon in it. You’ll know your mixture is thick enough when you insert a spoon, pull it out, and immediately trace a line across the back of the spoon with your fingertip (be careful, as it’ll be hot).
- If the line remains visible and the mixture doesn’t run back together, it’s thick enough.
