So by now you’re wondering where I’ve been as our website has been pretty quiet and our facebook page has been as well. I’m sorry, really but I had to keep everything tight lipped (trust me.. I was about ready to explode with excitement) so Mr. Fantabulous wouldn’t suspect anything was up. See his birthday was on the 29th and me, being the little shit that I am, decided to surprise the “you could NEVER pull one over on me” man. Oh really??? Do I smell a challenge?!
Challenge Accepted!
About 2 weeks prior to his birthday I started my plan in motion. I ‘fibbed’ and told him that I had to go to North Carolina for work for 4 days and that he should tag along. Now it took some coaxing on my part, and practically begging to get him to agree but he begrudgingly agreed. See I needed him to ‘go with me’ for work as I needed to justify him getting 2 sets of carry on bags for the airplane. And yes, he needed to get them out of the attic as there is NO WAY I’m going up there… NO WAY! *shudder* So for about 2 weeks he was kinda of “Meh!” about going with me as he really had no desire to go to NC. It’s a gorgeous place but when you are plagued with allergies and it’s Spring now, NC is a rough place to be. I know this all too well.
Anyway, the night before we’re to fly to ‘Charlotte’, 10 of us went out to celebrate his birthday at the Hofbräuhaus in Pittsburgh (for those of you that don’t know it, Mr. Fantabulous is BEER SNOB to say the least). This place is a blast and if you’re a beer lover, you’ll be in heaven! So as we’re sitting there talking, enjoying a few libations I hand him this…
to which I got a very puzzled look as I had already given him his birthday gifts on his actual birthday. So what seemed like forever for him to open it, he pulled out this…
He sat there, read it… almost confused-like then it hit him… “OMG I’m going to Scottsdale and not Charlotte?!?! HONEY!!! HONEY!!! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONEY!!!” to which he gave me the biggest hug and kiss. And that smile of his.. God that amazing smile of his. I don’t know who honestly was happier, me or him. Seeing him so happy like that and then him realize that he didn’t have to go to NC after all… priceless!
I’ll be posting more pics of our adventures and the nightmare we had with usairways and JFK airport. So now you know why I’ve been MIA for a few days. I have lots of foods to share with you – even had one of the restaurants give me their recipe to make their AMAZING steak fajitas. And this fried ice cream Mr. Fantabulous had… oh dear LORD! Absolute heaven!
