Get out of that same ol’ recipe rut and try one of these delicious and easy recipes this week! This week I highly recommend making the Indoor Grilled BBQ Beef Shortrib Pizza and Grandma’s Vanilla Bean Cream Cheese Pound Cake.
Happy Sunday TKW Family! What’s shakin’ peeps? This past week was eh, not so bad. However I ended up catching whatever cooties Mr. Fantabulous had. However it was an “odd” cold meaning I didn’t really feel sick meaning I didn’t have stomach issues or ache. I just had one headache that took up residency in my head for 5 days, had a high fever and I just felt crappy. It was one of those I was so utterly exhausted but couldn’t sleep. I still went to work though come Friday I gave in and worked from home.
I hate it when, if you have the option to work from home or to come in the office, that people come into the office when they are sick. Seriously, we live in an era where we are technologically advanced. We can VPN to work, Skype into meetings (heck 90% of my meetings are done via WebEx), can chat via IM to our co-workers all the while not infesting the office with our cooties. HAHAHA I actually typed cookies instead of cooties originally. LOL Speaking of cookies I was Aldi’s the other day (do you have one near you? OMG I love them!) and found their brand of Samoas, Pinwheels and Fudge Marshmallow cookies. Normally I don’t buy packaged stuff but you see I wasn’t feeling well so I didn’t have any baked goods at the house for Mr. Fantabulous and for some reason they just looked/sounded good.
Now if you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen this. First, yes I know I’m anal in how I stacked them however they just looked so pretty like that.
Now I make my own versions of the Samoas and the Pinwheels but the Fudge Marshmallow ones I haven’t. Now Mom used to make these when I was little however I never tried making her recipe. From what I can remember about her recipe she used Fluff and when you bit into them the filling oozed out. On these ones, they don’t. It’s not like a true marshmallow but rather it’s firm but not true marshmallow firm – if that makes sense. Well I’m on a mission to adapt her recipe into my own and recreate these childhood classics.
Any way, so get this. You know how last week I told you how Mr. Fantabulous was sick? Well what I didn’t tell you is the only thing that man wanted to eat was Ramen noodles. Yeah I know! He couldn’t taste anything and since, well, they are so overloaded with salt and whatever else that’s the only thing he can taste. I can remember when we first were together and he got sick. I made a HUGE batch of my Mama’s Magic Soup (chicken noodle) however he didn’t want that. He wanted that Ramen stuff! I was actually offended to be honest. I mean here I am this kitchen whiz and he wants…packaged stuff! But eh, I got over it as that meant all that magic soup was for me! Fast forward now to last week and my being sick. I didn’t have an appetite at all (my yoga pants were super happy about this!), just super thirsty though. Friday night I was lying in bed around 7 and he came into the bedroom clanking dishes. The man made me a bowl of soup… Ramen soup. *shudder* However the look on his beautiful face, smiling from ear to ear because he could make something to take care of me, just melted my heart. Now I was honest with him and told him I hated the stuff. I love the noodles but that broth – way too chemicaly/salty/msg-y for me however for him, after him asking me like a 4 year old to take a few spoonfuls, I obliged. I did eat about half of it though afterwards I drank about 4 glasses of water to get the salt taste out.
But it was so adorable to be honest. You see for those of you that are new here I’m stubborn (in a good way I like to think). I never sit still and I like being the one to take care of people; put them before me. It’s how I was raised. I will spoil someone til the cows come home yet I get really awkward/bashful if someone tries to spoil me. However being with Mr. Fantabulous all these years I’ve learned that it’s OK to let someone take care of you, to let them pamper you…to let them make you Ramen noodles even though you’d hate them. LOL
