Get out of that same ol’ recipe rut and try one of these delicious and easy recipes this week! This week I highly recommend making the Three Meat Stuffed Italian Banana Peppers and the Cowboy Meatball Sliders!
Hey TKW Family! Wow is it Sunday already? So let met take a poll of you guys. How many of you have had or currently have that nasty, NASTY flu/death plague going around? I’m battling it (and I think winning as I’m not too, too bad) but Mr. Fantabulous has it. While he hasn’t gone to the doctor’s yet (he’s going tomorrow if he’s not better), I don’t think it’s the flu everyone else has. But instead I think he has a really bad upper respiratory infection. He’s been down for the count since Wednesday. Apparently the lead singer of his band got sick first and by Wednesday he texted everyone saying he was pretty sick. A few hours later it surfaced with Mr. Fantabulous as well as a few of the other guys.
Then at work I found out that an entire department all had the flu and have been out all week. Many of my friends have it. If you’re here in Pittsburgh I honestly blame the weather as to why folks are so sick. No I’m not a doctor but when you go from 65F one day, 27 the next, -12F the following and 38F the next it’s inevitable that people are going to get sick. I feel bad though as I hate seeing him sick. Coughing, wheezing and just flat-out crappy. I’d say the ONLY benefit, if you will of him getting sick, is that he’s actually resting and taking a break. He needs it, you know. We all do.
So on top of taking care of him most of last week/weekend, my week was just a nightmare. I swear it literally was just a week of Mondays. Every day was worse than the prior and by Friday I was so frustrated that I actually asked Mr. Fantabulous if he needed me to run to Home Depot or Lowes. I just needed a break. LOL Yes it has to be that bad for me to ask something like that. But again, I do love what I do so I deal.
Okay, enough complaining. So tell me about YOUR week! What’s going on in your lives?
Let’s talk about the house remodel, shall we? It’s coming along rather nicely. We were able to hang 3 of the largest bar mirrors in the billiards room. I still have to clean them. Once he’s better we can hang the neon signs and the rest of the mirrors/signs. At that point the billiards room will be done. I should be able later today to start moving my cookbooks down into the office supply room downstairs that we just finished. Did you see the pictures and video on Instagram? I’m in LOVE with them!
Check it out! Click the image to play the video!
On most of the shelves will be my cookbooks plus office supplies. We’re also putting the big file cabinet and printer in there. Right now all of that stuff is on one of the spare bedroom floors and it’s near impossible to walk. Plus I’m anxious to go through my cookbooks and dare I say, purge some. There are some that I bought that honestly are pretty terrible. I’m sure the local library can use them.
Anyway, last week I also worked with a few new clients as well as prospective clients. I have so many AWESOME things coming up on the website; you guys are going to LOVE it! One of the things I try my very best when it comes to posting recipes is honestly giving you a variety of things. I’m not one that really likes to post the same thing/same category in a single week. I mean there are a ton of other awesome blogs out there that do that but that’s there’s niche. They are predominately baking blogs or pressure cooking blogs. Me, I’m a bit of everything. My focus, honestly, is to you, the person that *may or may not* have kitchen skills but you’re wanting to learn. Albeit a new recipe or just another way to make chicken.
TKW Website and TKW Gear!
Speaking of websites I am SUPER excited about how my designs are coming! We have the logo finalized and now are working on the color palette. This is my weakest area. I can’t design worth a damn guys. Like I have ZERO fashion sense (well okay I know not to wear 2 different shades of black at the same time) but that’s about it. I’m actually freaking out over having to stage my house to sell. But this is why I hired a designer. Melissa is amazing and seriously, she’s like my foodie bff! I can’t wait until we’re all finalized with the logos (meaning I have them here) as I want to get some shirts, aprons, towels and kitchen utensils made. Would you guys like your very own TKW gear?
OMG so I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE to share this story with you guys. Well actually 2 of what Mr. Fantabulous did/said.
That Man of Mine…
So Friday evening we normally have pizza for dinner but since he’s so sick that was the last thing he wanted. He has that type of sickness where you have ZERO taste buds but are hungry. Fine – so I make him another 8 quarts of tomato soup (mind you, I made 8 quarts on Monday) and spend almost $200 at the store earlier that day buying “sick people foods”.
I, who really doesn’t feel all too hot, decide to be lazy and buy myself one of those pre-made subs at Walmart (as they are pretty tasty). I give the man that has a fever, chills, sounds like a Mafia hit man, looks like he’s homeless and unloved a big bowl of soup and juice. I sit down next to him to finally eat a small piece of my sub only to hear the following…
“HEYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! What’s that??? How come I got THIS soup and you got something really awesome???”
Did he just say my homemade soup that he just ate 8 quarts of in the past 3 days and asked me to make today, even though I feel crappy, wasn’t as good as a store-bought sub????
So me being the loving wife gave him half. When I asked if he liked it he said “Dunno, I can’t taste anything. I just wanted some of yours cause I only had soup and you had that.”
I can’t win. Does your other half do this or am I alone in this? LOL
Cone of Empty Dreams
So later that night, when he’s finally in bed he asks “Honey, can you make me an ice cream cone? Just a small one. I’m really hot and I think my fever is back. The ice cream will cool me down.”
I’m sitting at my desk as he asks this because I have some deadlines to meet just stop, grin, shake my head and respond, “Sure honey, give me a minute.”
As I’m walking out to the kitchen I hear “Honey, don’t forget to put some ice cream in the cone ok? I don’t want a ‘Cone of empty dreams!’”
HAHAHAHAHA I lost it! Cone of empty dreams?! LOL He’s right though after all. Ice cream cones should have ice cream in them.
“Cone of empty dreams”… I can’t even. LOL Speaking of cones.. Blue Bunny has this new ice cream flavor out. OHHHHHHHHH EHMMMMMMMMMMMM GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! If you love Cookie Butter you NEED this in your life! It’s truly what heaven tastes like!
Last week on Instagram
I was on a HUGE salad kick as I pretty much had one every day for lunch!
I also tested out a few new recipes and gave a sneak peek of a client recipe. I shared with you how to make Perfectly Fluffy Brown Rice in the Instant Pot. Just 1 cup of rice to 1 1/4 cups stock. Pressure cook on high for 15 minutes, natural release for 15 minutes and fluff!
And this… Seriously guys, this is probably the BEST pot roast I have ever had in my life! I mean I think I actually like this more than my Mom’s recipe! And yes, it, too, is made in the pressure cooker! Mocha Pot Roast with Mushroom Thyme Gravy is full on MONEY! There’s no recipe posted as I still need to take real pictures and write up the recipe. And if I’m completely honest I’ll have to make it again just to ensure that I get that repeatable quality (and full on confession I’m probably going to eat it all before I take the next set of photos).
Probably THE BEST pot roast I’ve ever made! Mocha Pot Roast with Mushroom Thyme Gravy. Just 90 minutes in the pressure cooker! . 😍❤️ . Today I have a bunch of stuff I need to get done as I am fighting off this whatever he has which meant, even though I got a lot done in the kitchen yesterday I didn’t get everything done so I’m behind. So with that, have one fantabulous week!
