Prevent your food from sticking and your grates from rusting by oiling them before each use!
Prevent Food Sticking
Nothing is worse than when you have a gorgeous piece of fish or chicken on the grill and when you attempt to flip it it either sticks or comes apart in pieces because you failed to properly oil your grates. Today it’s all about learning how to clean your grills before each use, oiling them, and what oils to use on the grills
Clean Your Grill
Before you light your grill, take a grill brush or even crumbled tin foil and rub the grates clean. Remove any built-up ash from the bottom.
Add Oil To A Cool Grill
Once the ash and grates are cleaned, put some oil on a rag or brush and coat the grates. Don’t add too much that it’s dripping off. If there is an excess, wipe it off. Next, light the grill and use it accordingly.
The only time I don’t oil the grates is when I’m using meat or something that’s already coated in oil.
What Oils To Use
Naturally, you want to use a high smoke point oil like avocado, light olive oil, peanut oil, or canola,
NEVER OIL HOT GRILL GRATES
Under no circumstances are you to ever put oil on a hot grill grate. If you do this, the oil will carbonize and produce smoke (and not in a pleasant way). Plus this is extremely dangerous.
