Hungry yet? Let’s dive in and discover how to create these mouthwatering sandwiches at home. I showed you how to Master the Art of Smoked Pork butt on the Yoder Smokers YS640, now let’s see how to use that amazing meat in a recipe!
Simply Put: Pulled Pork Perfection
As you can probably imagine, I cook a TON of foods daily. Aside from pizza or an occasional food obsession, I crave very few things daily. However, this sandwich is something I’ve eaten daily for weeks on end without ever getting tired of it.
Grab Your Ingredients
If you look at the picture, it only takes 5 things to make this. This is one of these follow-on recipes that I talk about. I’ve already given you 3 base recipes:
all you need to also add are:
- Pickles – I suggest bread ‘n butter ones (those are my favorite)
- Brioche Buns
Mastering The Art Of Smoked Pulled Pork
This pork is truly one of the best you’ll ever, EVER eat! It’s smoked to perfection and one we never get tired of.
However, if you don’t have a Yoder Smokers YS640, never fear. You can use my other Instant Pot pulled pork recipe.
The Toppings
This slaw is a must on it. It pairs so perfectly with the pork. And that Apple Sauce BBQ Sauce is next level! Seriously if you’ve never made BBQ sauce with Apple Sauce then you, my friend, are sorely missing out on something truly incredible! We’re talking old-school recipe delicious!
Assemble The Sandwich
So this is a debatable subject – toasted buns or not. I’m not a fan of toasted buns for my pulled pork sammi but you can absolutely do so. However, I feel THE BEST buns are either brioche or pretzel buns!
- To your bun, add a generous portion of perfectly smoked pulled pork.
- Next, drizzle on some warm BBQ sauce followed by a heaping spoonful of the cole slaw. Top with the bun and enjoy!
Now it can be questioned if you should put pickles and or cheese on your sandwich. Honestly, that’s totally your call. I prefer mine without cheese but with tons of pickles on the side. I almost treat the pickles like potato chips (which are a must too but I didn’t have any while I was shooting this).
Picture Perfect Pulled Pork
Seriously, that’s a sexy sandwich right there. I was so incredibly proud of how these photos turned out. I’m not a photographer but given the business I’m in, I had to learn fast how to use a DLSR, shoot everything in manual mode, AND teach myself several different editing software.
Don’t even get me started on videos either! I’m still using my phones for that as honestly, I just don’t have the (or desire) to learn another software suite. So that’s something I’ve passed on to Mr. Fantabulous to learn and take the lead on.
What To Serve With Pulled Pork Sandwiches
So I’ve listed pickles and chips but seriously, depending on the occasion or time of the year, you can serve a ton of different things.
- Southwestern Mac ‘n Cheese
- Ultimate Buttery Maple Bourbon Glazed Candied Bacon Pineapple Spears
- Flame Kissed Cheesy Jalapeño Poppers
- Extra Diner-Style Slaw
- Grilled Brussels Sprouts Salad With Bacon Pecans and Cranberries
- Easy Cheesy Jalapeño Popper Dip
- Watermelon Berry Feta Salad
- Charred Corn Black Bean & Shrimp Salsa
- Stone Fruit Summer Salad with Burrata & Prosciutto
- Elote – Mexican Street Corn Dip
Recipe Substitutions and Additions
So this is where you can truly make it your own! Play around with your BBQ sauces or even your slaws!
- BBQ sauce – switch up the sauce with one of these to choose from
- Honey Mustard Slaw – if you go with a mustard BBQ sauce, go with this honey mustard cole slaw
- Veggies – add jalapenos or banana pepper rings for some heat, caramelized onions for some sweetness, or shaved radishes for some crunch
- Chips – yes, add rippled chips ON THE SANDWICH
- Pittsburgh-Style – add crispy french fries or tater tots to the sandwich (put them between the BBQ sauce and the cole slaw
