Your New Go-To Chicken Wrap
Even though we both work from home, there are days when the hours fly by, and lunch ends up later and later. Some days we want something quick yet delicious. That’s exactly what I love about having these wraps stocked up in the fridge! They’re a simple, delicious option that feels like a real meal, even when we’re short on time.
They all start with some leftover famous oven-baked chicken, crispy bacon, lettuce, and dressing of your choice. These are budget-friendly, so easy to make, and transform leftovers into something new and delicious! I keep my fridge stocked up with these as they are great for meal prep and on-the-go bites. Trust me, once you try the crispy bacon, tender chicken, and that cream Parmesan peppercorn dressing, you’ll definitely be adding these to your menu!
Chicken Bacon Wraps Ingredients
This is what I call a follow-on recipe. I’ve already shared with you how to make my viral oven-baked chicken, homemade bacon, and that epic creamy Parmesan peppercorn dressing. Now I’m showing you how you can use them all together in a new dish.
- Crispy Bacon
- Flour Tortillas
- Lettuce
- Shaved Parmesan
How to Assemble a Chicken Wrap
When I make my wraps, I have everything ready to go. The tortillas are covered (so they don’t dry out), the meats are sliced, dressings are ready, and so forth. The key here is not to overstuff them, or they can be tough to roll up and stay closed.
- Take your room, temp soft flour tortillas, and, in the bottom third of a tortilla, add 1 strip of bacon, then some sliced chicken, Parmesan cheese shavings, and lettuce.
- Spoon about 1-2 teaspoons of dressing onto the tortilla, then close it. Roll the bottom of the tortilla up and over the filling, and carefully “tuck” it under the filling.
- Fold in the sides and roll up to close the wrap.
- Repeat this for the remaining wraps. Once done, wrap up each one tightly in plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to 4 days.
The Perfect Meal Prep Wrap
You’d think, given that I’m around food all day long, I wouldn’t meal prep, but honestly, it’s the very reason I tend to have a ‘normal’ routine with food rather than snacking all day. The last thing I want is a “quick snack” turning into a full-on snack binge.
Having these wraps ready in the fridge makes it so easy to grab something that actually fills us up, keeps us going until dinner that evening.
Bacon Chicken Wrap FAQs
- How long do these bacon chicken wraps last in the fridge? They’ll stay fresh for 3-4 days wrapped tightly.
- Can I freeze these wraps? Yes, but do not add the lettuce, as it does not freeze well.
- Can I use rotisserie chicken? Of course! These wraps should be about using up leftovers and making it easy on yourself.
- What type of tortillas work best? Soft flour tortillas work best, but you can also use whole-wheat, low-carb, or gluten-free tortillas.
- What size tortillas should I use? I buy the 10″ ones, but you can also use the 12-14″ ones. I would advise using the smaller ones as they can be too hard to roll up.
- Can I make these wraps dairy-free? Of course! Use a plant-based cheese and a dairy-free creamy dressing.
- Can I add extra veggies? Yes, but make sure they are as dry as possible before adding.
What to Serve With Chicken Wraps
Honestly, I think it depends on when you’re having it. If it’s just a quick lunch, this is all I’d have. But if it’s for dinner or brunch, I like to serve options with it.
Chicken Wrap Recipe Substitutions
- BAKED CHICKEN: Grab a rotisserie chicken and use that instead to save time
- BACON: Not a fan? Simply omit.
- TORTILLA: You can swap flavors and use low-, no-, or gluten-free.
- SKIP THE TORTILLA: So I would not “wrap” them up ahead of time to avoid them from getting soggy, but instead I would package everything up separately, and keep each “meal prep” as a kit, so that I can just quickly assemble it when I’m ready to eat.
- VEGGIES: Swap the lettuce for spinach. Add cucumbers, peppers, carrots, onions, or celery. If you’re going to add tomatoes, I would “salt the tomato slices” to help pull out the moisture first, then add them to the wrap.
- To salt them, simply place them on a cooling rack in a rimmed baking pan. Slice and sprinkle the tops with kosher salt. Allow to rest for 15 minutes. Blot the tops, flip, and repeat.
- DRESSING: Try hummus, mashed avocado, or a different creamy texture
