Skip the takeout! This Sheet Pan Hot Honey Garlic Chicken & Broccoli is the perfect 30-minute dinner your weeknight needs. The signature glaze transforms into liquid-gold that locks into the chicken, while the seasoned broccoli chars for that perfect, smoky crunch.
A Familiar Classic Dinner, Reimagined
Chicken & broccoli is a family staple in our house (and probably in yours). It’s easy, versatile, and can be thrown together fairly quickly. Often I’ll make it as a base for follow-on recipes – wraps, salads, rice bowls, and so forth.
This recipe takes those familiar, comforting ingredients and elevates them with a sticky, sweet-heat glaze that transforms a simple sheet pan meal into something truly spectacular. By balancing the floral sweetness of honey with the punchy kick of chili and aromatic garlic, you’re getting a complex flavor profile without needing a dozen pans or hours of prep.

Just made this the other day and it was sooo yummy!! I made my own seasoning for the broccoli and used a milder hot honey but it was still full of flavor! The chicken came out tender and I loved how the broccoli soaked up the sweet hot honey sauce… that was probably my most favorite part of this dish… I could’ve eaten that broccoli for days!!! I like that this is an easy dish to prepare and only one pan… I DID make a side pan of roasted sweet potato wedges to go with this but still really only two pans to clean up! This will definitely go into my dinner rotation!
Sheet Pan Hot Hot Honey Chicken Ingredients
I’m a HUGE hot honey fan and will use it whenever I get the chance. I will say that I am VERY critical of the brand I use. The one linked is the absolute best I’ve ever tasted. It’s the most perfectly balanced in flavor.
I’m the chef who gets bored easily with food and always has to switch up the flavor profiles. The magic of this dish lies in its simplicity and versatility.
Because everything roasts together, the broccoli soaks up the savory juices from the chicken while the high heat caramelizes the edges of the honey glaze. It’s an “elevated basic” that works just as well for a frantic Tuesday night as it does for a healthy Sunday meal prep session.
- Chicken: boneless skinless breasts or thighs
- Fresh Broccoli Florets
- Hot Honey & brown sugar
- Minced Garlic
- Fats: melted butter and olive oil
- Dijon Mustard

How to Make Hot Honey Chicken & Broccoli
Mr. Fantabulous was pretty standoffish when it came to the concept of hot honey but once he tried it he was hooked. So when I pulled this out of the oven, he came out from the guitar studio asking me what smelled so good and more importantly, “is that for me?”
I plated him a dish and as he was eating it, before I could even say the words, “hot honey garlic chicken…” he blurted out “Wow this is good baby. No, this is REALLY REALLY good!”.
Needless to say, the past few years this is the only way I make my honey chicken and broccoli – gotta have that heat from the hot honey and that bite from the garlic.
- Preheat the oven and either line a full or half sheet pan with foil or use a large baking dish.
- To a bowl whisk together part of the oil, melted butter, minced garlic, hot honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Add in the chicken strips and mix to combine.
- To the center of the baking dish or sheet pan, add the coated chicken in a single layer along with any of the sauce.
- To the outside of the chicken, add the broccoli in a single layer. Drizzle on the rest of the olive oil to the broccoli and sprinkle on the Chupacabra Chop Haus seasoning.
- Pop the pan into the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the chicken reads 165°F (74°C) for breasts. *If you using thighs, go for 175°F (79°C).
- Remove from the oven, plate and enjoy!
Sheet Pan Honey Garlic Chicken & Broccoli FAQs
- What type of chicken should I use? For this, go with boneless and skinless breasts or thighs. I cut mine into tender-sized pieces. If using thighs, you’ll need to cook them until they reach 175°F (79°C)
- Can I use frozen broccoli? You can, but for the best results, use fresh. Frozen broccoli releases more water and may prevent the chicken from getting that gorgeous golden caramelization from the sauce.
- What do I do if I don’t have a large sheet pan or baking dish? Split the recipe up into two smaller pans or dishes.
- Can I use other vegetables? Absolutely! I didn’t have room on my pan for the potatoes (as seen in the pictures), so I just put them in another pan (with the same seasoning as the broccoli). The key is to make sure they are all about the same size. See the substitutions and additions section below for more information.
- Can I double the recipe for a big family (or a week of lunches)? Yes, but remember the “sizzle & space” rule! If you double the ingredients, use two separate sheet pans or baking dishes. If you pile everything on one tray, it will steam instead of roast. Swap the pans halfway through the bake time (top rack to bottom rack) to ensure even browning.
How to Store & Reheat Honey Garlic Chicken
- STORAGE: To store leftovers, once cooled, transfer to an airtight container or meal prep container and store in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
- REHEATING OVEN: Bake in a shallow dish or on a baking sheet at 350°F (176°C) with 1/4 cup of stock. Add about a 1/4 cup of stock to keep the chicken moist. Loosely cover with foil and bake for about 20 minutes, or until heated through. Reheat the broccoli separately to keep them crisp for about 10 minutes.
- REHEAT AIR FRYER: I would place a piece of parchment paper down first to prevent the honey from burning. Place the chicken in the air fryer at 350°F (176°C), lightly mist with oil, and air fry for ~5-7 minutes. The broccoli should only take 3-5 minutes.
What to Serve With Broccoli & Hot Honey Chicken
If I were into fashion, this would be the “little black dress” of recipes – it goes with everything.
- As-Is: Serve it as it is with some hot honey as a dipping sauce and maybe a small side salad
- Grain Bowl: Serve it over a fluffy bed of jasmine rice or quinoa to soak up the extra sauce.
- Low-Carb: Toss it into a large lettuce wrap or serve it over cauliflower rice.
- Wrap It Up: Add this to a large flour tortilla with some hot honey, shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, and green onions.
- Comfort Zone: Stuff it inside a fluffy baked potato with sour cream, cheese, and chives.
Recipe Substitutions and Additions
- Chicken Breasts: You can use boneless skinless thighs, but you’ll need to cook them about 5 or so minutes longer
- Vegetables: Bell peppers, red onions, or snap peas all play beautifully with the garlic and honey. Cubed sweet or regular potatoes work as well.
- Heat: You can also add red pepper flakes, cayenne, sriracha, or gochujang.
This is that chicken dinner we both crave often and one he’ll ask me to make when we have company coming over as it’s always a hit with folks plus he knows he has some amazing leftovers the next day (as I always make extra).
