This nutty, velvety syrup is the ultimate hack for transforming your standard drinks into gourmet treats. With just three pantry staples—water, sugar, and creamy peanut butter—you can whip up a batch in under ten minutes.

I know, you’re probably wondering, “Why in the world would I ever need Peanut Butter Simple Syrup???”

Trust me, you’ll thank me in the next post! Most of you know to use simple syrups in drinks, i.e., mojitos.  However, simple syrups are not just for drinks.

Next time you make a cake, muffin, cookie, sweet bread, or any dessert, really, brush the top with a flavor-simple syrup.  It’s insanely good!

Making this stuff couldn’t be any easier…

Literally put the sugar and water in a pan.  When the sugar is dissolved, and it starts to bubble, add the peanut butter and cook until slightly thickened. Yeah.. THAT simple.

Ways to use Peanut Butter Simple Syrup

  1. Elevated Coffee: Stir 1–2 tablespoons into a hot latte or cold brew. It tastes exactly like a liquid peanut butter cup when paired with a splash of chocolate mocha sauce.
  2. Milkshakes & Smoothies: Drizzle it into a vanilla or banana milkshake for an instant flavor upgrade without the clumps of actual peanut butter.
  3. Breakfast Topping: Use it as a thinner, pourable alternative to maple syrup on waffles, pancakes, or French toast.
  4. Dessert Cocktails: Shake it into an Espresso Martini or a “Peanut Butter & Jelly” Old Fashioned (using bourbon and a splash of cranberry or raspberry liqueur).
  5. Ice Cream Sundaes: Pour it warm over vanilla bean ice cream or frozen yogurt for a rich, salty-sweet finish.

This nutty, velvety syrup is the ultimate hack for transforming your standard drinks into gourmet treats. With just three pantry staples—water, sugar, and creamy peanut butter- you can whip up a batch in under ten minutes.

  • Author: The Kitchen Whisperer
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter

Instructions

  1. In a medium heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat, add the sugar and water.
  2. Stir occasionally or until the sugar is all dissolved.
  3. Once dissolved, add in the peanut butter and stir well.
  4. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring every so often. Keep an eye on it as it has the potential to bubble over. The whole process should take 10-15 minutes.
  5. Transfer to a jar and allow to cool completely before covering and refrigerating for up to 2 weeks.
