Happy Sunday TKW Family! How was your week? Mine was soggy. You see June in Pittsburgh is probably the worst month ever here. All it does is rain. I had read years ago that on average Pittsburgh gets something like 53 days of sunny weather in an entire year. The rest is either gray, cloudy or snowy. It sucks as this is such an amazing city but the weather… god the weather just bites the big one. I haven’t been able to cut the grass in like 10 days and it’s going to have to not rain for at least 3-4 days before I will be able to cut again. The riding mower will sink into the swamp lands that is our property. However you would think with all that damn rain those *&^%$ roosters next door would float away. Swear to God those things are going to live forever. Seriously hate them. Well okay I don’t hate them but more I dislike them. The neighbors, well… you all know how I feel about those ignorant donkeys.
It’s sad they are the people who truly give country living a bad name. You think friendly, homey, welcoming when you think about living in the country. Yeah, not here; not with those jagaloons. But I digress, I work so much that I’m rarely home however I see the toll this town and they play on Mr. Fantabulous. Nothing breaks my heart more when I see him upset and I can’t do anything about the situation. Now granted I wish no harm to the roosters (or neighbors) but I would surely be the first one in line to help them move and pack. LOL
So I have to tell you about my Saturday night as I am still reeling in the excitement. Very dear friends of mine, Lori and Dave, since middle school are in a band. Both are incredible musicians and more importantly, incredible people. They were opening last night for one of my all time favorite artists, Beth Hart. This woman has truly the most amazing vocals I have ever heard in my life. She’s so soulful and truly a master of her art. Well last night she played a small, intimate venue here in the ‘Burgh. I literally was 3 rows back dead center where I was maybe 10’ if that. The place was small, hot and the lights overheated so they just had a spotlight on her. Honestly that made the experience that much more.
Now normally when an artists plays live or it’s just them and a piano their vocals never truly match what you hear on the album. But hers… dear God, her vocals are elite. She literally blew every single one of my expectations out of the water. I highly encourage you to go buy her cd’s and listen to her. This woman and her music speaks to you; it speaks to your very core.
Since we had dual obligations at the same time Mr. Fantabulous went to my childhood friends son graduation party while I was at the concert then I went there afterwards. God I’ll be honest it doesn’t seem ‘real’ that these people I grew up with have kids that are graduating high school. I mean how is that possible? When did they get so…old? Perhaps it’s because we don’t have kids (well okay Mr. Fantabulous doesn’t; I just have a 47 year old man child… LOL) but still, I see all of my friends posting on facebook about their kids graduating, looking at colleges or better yet… they are grandparents already. WHAT??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO It’s weird because I don’t feel that old but man, where did the time go. It’s just surreal you know?
Well I’m cutting this short this morning as Mr. Fantabulous is at band practice now which means I get the house to myself for a few hours. WOO HOO…. chick flicks here I come… or perhaps ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’. Hey don’t judge me nor are you allowed to judge me that I’m counting down the days till Magic Mike XXL. Wha? *wink*
