Happy Sunday TKW Family! Wow, this past week flew by! For most of us it was a short week due to it being Memorial day last Monday. Work kept me busy as usual but when you love what you do, is it really work? We got a lot more done at the house though we still have a long ways to go. We finished building the kitchen island, ran the outlet boxes to it and Mr. Fantabulous fabricated the steel support beams it needed to hold up the 10.5″ granite counter top overlay for it. Now we just have to stain it, mount it and wait for the counters to arrive. What else??? We painted the old “Giant Eagle” room we had downstairs. For those that are unfamiliar with what Giant Eagle is, it is a 10×12′ room that I used to store my extra food and supplies. It was a mini supermarket if you will. We called it that as when I was out of something in the kitchen I would grab a shopping bag and head down stairs to that room to get what I needed – canned goods, cereal, flour, etc. But since we’re remodeling we’re turning that room into our office (which I don’t see me EVER using it because it’s well.. downstairs and it’s in the back of the house). I’m a wuss and it just wigs me out that I now have to go downstairs, to the back of the house to use my office. My house is huge and I don’t like being on a different level than the front door at night. Weird I know. But as I said we painted that room…and I painted a LOVELY 1″ thick long strip of gray paint in my newly dyed black hair. I was NOT happy! Oh Mr. Fantabulous found it hysterical as he said from the back my hair looked like a skunk.
Fortunately I was able to get “most of it” out. Just a teensy bit on the ends remained but it’ll wear off…I hope. If not I can text my AMAZING stylist (Frederick) to fix me. But eh, I’m not a real girlie girl so I’ll be fine. Then yesterday I had the BEST DAY in a long time! Since it was the All-Clad factory sale, I had to go. It’s like a law for me! Mama Fantabulous has been going with me for the past few years and I swear they love her more than me now! But what made it even more awesomer (go with it) was that my sister and niece went too! I don’t get to see them often as my sister lives a good hour + from me and my niece is super busy with college. She’ll be a senior next year and since she’s going to be a doctor she doesn’t get much free time.
Now for me I’m an old pro at this event. There’s honestly nothing I need but yet I always come home with at least one thing. They always seem to have one thing I don’t have yet. As we got there we were met with open arms and hugs galore. Seriously I so love this company! They treat you like family! I’d have to say while my first time ever to one of these sales was my favorite, this last one honestly was a very close second. Seeing my sister’s incredible blue eyes (seriously she has lagoon blue eyes that are to die for <hate her>) light up when she first went into the sale. Rows upon rows of pans, pots, appliances and smiles galore. Her eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning. She was hooked! But then my niece, she totally shocked me. You see she works A LOT and she lives a very healthy lifestyle. She’s a foodie like me but she never really got into cooking. When I found out she was coming I was super thrilled as I love this kid but then was worried she may be bored. I mean it would be like taking me to a car show – yeah they are pretty, fast, loud and super cool buuuuuuuuuuuuut it’s not something I’m that in to. Know what I mean?
But as soon as she walked in, she immediately started asking me questions about the pans – stuff she could make in them, how to clean them and is it worth it for a college student get them now. I explained that getting these pans and so forth are an investment. They have a lifetime guarantee and you’re investing in quality and longevity. I then totally geeked out on her going into the engineering aspects of the pans, metal fabrication and so forth. I could see then she started to get excited about the sale and actually making a wish list. I told her that I would help her build out her kitchen armory if she had a true vested interest. And that over the summer while she’s home (and I get my kitchen back) that I would have her up on the weekends and show her different things she can make in her townhouse with her roommates. I’m so happy that she now has that cooking bug and wants to explore the kitchen.
OMG so get this… after we’re done with the sale we went to our cars to only get attacked by those damn cicadas! Yeah I’m not a bug chick nor do I care that it’s some awesome phenomenon that they only surface every 17 years. They are underground for a reason – they were bad and punished. STAY THERE! OMG like literally we were getting dived bombed! THEN.. omg THEN one TOUCHED ME! Folks I screamed like someone being strangled and almost peed my pants. These suckers are HUGE! I think the one that touched me had nun-chucks. Sorry Mama Fantabulous but you’re lucky you got in the car when you did else you were going to be left there to fend for yourself!
After the bug pelting we all went to lunch where we laughed til we cried and said our goodbyes. Mama Fantabulous and I went back to their house were we prepped dinner for the guys and then settled down to watch the Pens game. Well okay Mama didn’t as she’s not a hockey/sports person. Mr. Fantabulous crashed on the couch so Papa Fantabulous and I swore at the tv. OMG to hear him call the tv a jagoff was priceless! While it was a very long day, I would not have changed a single thing!
Today I’m working on a new recipe for Sam’s Club, doing a photo shoot and hopefully finding 2 hours to myself to watch the new movie “Burnt” starting sexy Bradley Cooper! Have you seen it yet? With that, I’m off to go cause havoc in the kitchen! Have one fantabulous week!
