Weekly Menu

Get out of that same ol’ recipe rut and try one of these delicious and easy recipes this week! This week I highly recommend making the Hot Sausage, Peppers and Onions Subs and the Sriracha Honey Buttered Crispy Baked Oven Fried Wings!

Happy Sunday TKW Family! So tell me how your past week has been?  Take a vacation perhaps or maybe just chill out at home?  Talk with me, dish about your life. Let’s get to know one another. Last week for us was hard and sad. Sadly my sister in law (my brother in law’s wife) passed away after battling cancer for a little over 3 years. Death is hard for as it is for most but I guess for me, having experienced it at such a young age with my parents and having tragic events happen in my life, I don’t handle it well. But then I suppose no one really does.

It broke my heart to see my niece, her daughter, who is only 15 just stand there eyes so swollen from crying looking just so lost. I know that feeling all too well as I was her when I, too, first experienced the loss of a loved one. Though I was 18, I was still a child really. My poor, sweet brother in law…one of the gentlest souls you’ll ever meet standing there putting on a brave face though you could see his pain.

Death, in a way, kind of opens your eyes to many things. It kind of makes you aware of your life, the people in your life and realize what’s truly important. And also, it forces you to have those conversations that you really don’t want to ever have…how to handle your time when you pass, wills, finances; almost a preparation of what to do when someone passes.

Life is hard…

So anyway, let’s talk… What I’ve been doing lately on my Facebook page is having folks post a pic of something that made them smile that day. It can be a GIF file or a pic they took. The responses have been awesome and it’s such incredible insight to learning about everyone. One TKW Sister shared a pic of her “She Shed” (woman version of a man cave) her husband built for her. It was her sanctuary. Many posted pictures of their pics or videos of their kids. It’s still like that that brings such smiles to everyone faces and lets us all know that the person making that comment or liking a post is real.

I’d love for you to join in on the discussions either online or on here. You read all about me, my life but I don’t know much about you. Dish, tell me about your life!  If it takes off we can make it a weekly thing or even a dedicated section on the site!  And with that, I’m off to do my 2nd set of PT exercises. It’s been rough and painful but if I want a full recovery I must.

Have a fantabulously delicious week!

I’m so sorry for the loss in your family. My heart breaks for your niece. No one should have to go through that so young.

Thank you Pam. All we can do is be there for her and my brother in law.

      Best Kitchen Wishes!

I’m sorry you and your family have lost a loved one. It’s always hard, especially for kids.
My dad died (cancer & liver disease) when I was only ten years old. (I’m now fifty-nine). I will remember that week for the rest of my life.
Christianity teaches that we will one day be together again; for which I am focused and truly grateful.
I hope your and your family’s hurt becomes less painful as time passes. I will keep you in my prayers.
