Happy Sunday TKW Family! I, seriously. am so thankful that today is Sunday. If it were Monday I would going to lose my mind I swear. This weekend has truly been non-stop. I’m not sure how it’s physically possible but we’ve stepped up our pace even more on the house remodel work. I honestly don’t think it’s ever going to end. Mr. Fantabulous says we’ve surpassed the mid-point and are on the way to completion however I swear every day he finds something else that we need to work on. This weekend was FINALLY picked out (and hung) curtains. I literally bought 38 different types of curtains to try in our master bedroom. Sorry Kohl’s and At Home for the massive returns. Then we finally finished hanging the wine crate wall art in the media room bar (see the Instagram images below) and almost all of the wall art through out the house. We also are painting 2 of the bathrooms today. I swear he’s inventing rooms to paint!
Finally last night, around 11pm we got to sit down on the couch and take a deep breath. We could relax. Then he said something that put me into a minor panic attack…”What time are your meetings tomorrow?” I looked at him in shear terror.. ‘OMG was tomorrow Monday??? Did we work the entire weekend???’. Being as tired as we were, we literally couldn’t figure out if it was Sunday night, or indeed Saturday night. Of course neither of us had our phones near us and didn’t think to pull up the data on the tv. Instead I got up, walked to the office, turned on my computer and then found it. Minor heart attack averted. LOL
Has that ever happened to you? You literally can’t think what day it is? But the good news I guess is we did get a lot of work done and we did go out twice – even if it was to return stuff and buy a few new things, it was time spent away from the house. What did you do this weekend?
So I have to share a funny story with you guys. Friday night, after returning almost $600 worth of stuff he said he wanted to stop for a beer and a bite. Since I hadn’t made dinner yet I was okay with this. We get to the restaurant, order and wait for our drinks. As soon as she brought his tall beer he almost drank the whole thing down at once. I looked at him in shock. He never does this. I said “Honey??? What are you doing?” He, wipes his mouth, said “Wow I was so thirsty and this beer tastes amazing! It’s ice cold. Here try some.” Now you know me and how I hate beer so naturally I made the squinched-up yuck face and shook my head no. Well… let’s just say SOMEONE had 3 too many tall beers as SOMEONE got a bit tipsy and had the giggles. I laughed and managed to get my tipsy hubby in the car. All the way home he kept petting my head saying “You’re so beautiful. I love you. You’re the bestest wife ever!” – yeah, he was drunk. LOL But that’s not the funny part.
We get home and he goes into the bedroom to just lie down and watch tv. As I walk past he slurs “C’mere bootiful. Watch this wif me for a minte” (that’s ‘come here beautiflul. watch this with me for a minute’ in drunkese). haha. I go in, he pulls me on to the bed and proceeds to plop his, now, 450 pound head on my lap pinning me on the bed. He immediately falls asleep. I grin, pet his head and get comfy. I look at the tv and the man has curling on. Curling??? WTF is that sport? It’s Japan versus Scotland and I can’t understand a single word other than everyone yelling. I go to grab the remote and this dead weight lump that I have on my lap is lying on the remote. We’re talking it’s buried deep underneath him. I can’t move him as he wrapped his arms around my one thigh holding on to it like a life-preserver! He woke up briefly (well okay he woke himself up from snoring) and said “I can’t figure out this show they just slide and sweep the floors.” and then went back to bed. I. WAS. TRAPPED! I was trapping with this man on me, holding on to my thigh for dear life forced to watch some show that I don’t understand the concept of AND I can’t understand them when they speak. For one solid hour I was in hell. Finally he wakes up and said “Oh honey, why didn’t you change the channel? And what is this hard thing underneath my side?”…. yeah he found the remote. It’s a good thing I love that man folks.
So curling – do any of you understand this?
Last week work-wise was busy. I had to go to Cleveland for workshop. It’s funny for as many times as I’ve been to Ohio I don’t think I’ve ever been to Cleveland. It’s a pretty cool city with lots of great places to eat. If you follow my Instagram feed you got to see some of the cool places I visited and great eats I had. Between work and this house I’ve been a bit slow on TKW recipes and postings. I’m sorry guys but I’m trying my best to get this house done so we can at least list it. Once we can get to that I can get back to my normal schedule and posting a bajillion recipes. Just be patient a little while longer, please! ♥
Last week on Instagram
Last week I decided to make a simple sweet bread (truth is I needed to use up some buttermilk I had in the fridge). I used this recipe as the base but switched it up by omitting the oil and adding all butter.
When you have buttermilk and you need to use it up. This Sugary Cinnamon swirl bread is an adaptation on the Cinnamon Swirl bread on my website. I omitted the oil and went with all butter. Doubled the cinnamon filling and only used 1 cup of sugar in the bread. . https://www.thekitchenwhisperer.net/2014/10/28/cinnamon-swirl-buttermilk-bread/ . #sunday #yumday #sweets #cheatday #eatingfortheinsta #foodstagram #foodvideo #fwx #thekitchenwhisperer #chefsroll #yougottaeatthis #feedfeed
And because I wanted more filling I doubled the cinnamon swirl

So one thing about me is I can’t tolerate rice. I love it but it tends to make me sick. I’ve been making a lot of Cauliflower fried rice and have to admit, it’s really good. I do need to make it again and take real shots so I can share the recipe.
Anyway, I can hear him calling for me which means it’s time to go paint. Ugh… I just keep telling myself “it’ll all be worth it in the end.” With that, have one fantabulously amazing week!
