Happy, happy Sunday TKW Family! Tis a rather chilly day here in Pittsburgh again. Yesterday morning I woke up to it snowing lightly and frost everywhere. Now normally I wouldn’t care too much about it except we didn’t empty the water out of our huge fountain in the front of the house. We both said we’d get it done while it was warmer and before he had his hand surgery but as you can see, we both blew it off until we were FORCED to empty it…in the frigid temps. Oy!
The only good thing about it being butt-cold out is that we worked super fast and had it all drained and carried inside in about 30 minutes. Granted my fingers were so cold they were burning but that’s nothing a warm cup of hot cocoa couldn’t help defrost. Speaking of hot chocolate am I the only person that likes it with water instead of milk? Now I’m talking about the instant stuff. I actually don’t like it with milk. And before you raise an eyebrow, I do make homemade but even then I do half milk and half water.
Should have stayed in bed!
So let me tell you about my Friday. Did you ever have one of those days where you should have just stayed in bed, under the covers all day? I should have done that on Friday. I took my first PTO day of the year which meant I could sleep in as long as I wanted. Or so I thought…. bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 5:05am. I mean I couldn’t even force myself back to sleep. So to the kitchen I went by 5:30am. Since I had a ton of apples I decided to make an Apple Cider Spice cake. Now my recipe calls for a 10 cup bundt pan. Well I wasn’t paying attention and chopped up 2 apples too much and put it in the batter which meant when I filled the pan it went almost all the way to the top. I shrugged it off figuring that I didn’t put much leavening in the batter so it shouldn’t rise much.
…ooooooooooor so I thought! 15 minutes into it baking and *sniff sniff*. Oh yeah we all know that smell. It’s an unmistakable smell that, once you’ve smelled it, there’s no denying it. Yep… the cake done flowed over all over the bottom of my oven. Quickly I stuffed some tin foil on the rack below and allowed that to catch the run over. The cake turned out fine but it was a hot mess in my oven! THEN…. I head out to Sam’s club during a torrential storm. As I’m there the powered flickered 3 times and then finally went out. Your truly was standing below their AC unit to which, as soon as the power went out, all of the condensation it had was released… all over my legs and feet. To make matters worse I was stuck in the store for 30 minutes! Like I couldn’t leave!
I finally leave there and hit up Aldi on my way home. While I’m there I realized I had to use the ladies’ room…. bad. I shouldn’t have chugged my drink while at Sam’s club. As I quickly walked over towards the bathroom the fire and water restoration company just put up barriers in the store blocking it off. Apparently with all of the rain we were having they got flooded. Yeah… not good when you have to tinkle badly! LOL Fortunately I hit up the DQ on the way home and treated myself to a small cone after well, ya know. LOL
