Get out of that same ol’ recipe rut and try one of these delicious and easy recipes this week! This week I highly recommend making the Roasted Cornish Hens, the Crock Pot Eye of Round with Mushroom & Onion Gravy, and the Three Meat Stuffed Italian Banana Peppers!
Happy Sunday TKW Family! I had such an awesome weekend! It’s been a long, long time since I well… did something just for me. Friday I went and got my normal house shopping done and then that night we just shut off the world and watched some tv. Seriously, I don’t know the last time we just did that. It was pretty nice to be honest. Sometimes I think we all need to “unplug” from technology.
I work an insane amount of hours a week (by choice as I love TKW and my engineering job) so I don’t get much free time for ‘us’. Even though we both work from home and are together literally 24/7/365 a year it’s like I “miss” my husband.
Our lives are so busy that we, sadly, forget to take time for ‘us’. Do couple-type things and have private moments. Even though we tell each other multiple times a day that we love one another, sneak smooches and so forth, sometimes you just need a break from everything else to get back to just the two of you. I make us a great meal, we sit on the couch with dinner while watching tv and then snuggle up for a few hours. No cell phones, no home phone – just us. It’s, honestly, some of my most favorite times. And it’s not always the same. Like the one night (God I can’t believe I’m telling you guys this as it’s so embarrassing but..) we started watching videos (it’s for the lead singer of his band) for various vocal lessons and techniques. Now, if you’ve never watched one, it’s kind of funny – not the lesson but rather the sounds you’re to make and the facial expressions. It makes total sense and I WISH I could sing like those folks but.. when you can’t sing and you make those sounds. Well…
…he sounded like a moose being strangled and I like a whale giving birth. Guys we did this for house and laughed so hard that I literally had to run to the bathroom as I was going to wet my pants from laughing so hard. It’s stuff like that, that makes us the perfect match. It’s that silliness and ability to be completely vulnerable, sound like a birthing whale and still know that the other person loves you unconditionally.
Saturday in the Strip
Saturday my bff and I spent the afternoon downtown Pittsburgh in the Strip. I haven’t done that in years and, even though it was freezing (like 23F) I didn’t care as I was with her. We walked for miles, stopped in a million shops, took some incredible shots (I can’t wait to see hers as she’s a great photographer!) and laughed for hours. That’s something I needed. Just a day away from the house and spending it with my gf. I did feel a bit guilty though as I’m not a selfish person and it’s hard for me, honestly, to do stuff just for me. But it truly felt wonderful. Plus, we ended the day off with cake and well, cake always is a good thing!
And with that, have one fantabulously amazing week! I’m off to eat cake for lunch and book my conference trip for May.
