Can soup be just a meal?
Just like a salad, we are a house divided. I grew up where soup was a meal, not a side dish or something you had with your main meal.
If you ask Mr. Fantabulous it’s never a real meal but rather always meant to accompany something.
It’s like a hug from the inside out
Soups to me are comforting both physically and emotionally. I equate a bowl of hot soup to a hug from my Mom or Grandma – warm, comforting, and safe.

Now granted the majority of us I bet do eat more hot soup when it’s cold out but I can tell y’all that even when it’s 115F outside here, I still would reach for a bowl of hot soup.
Now it may not be thick and creamy like say potato chowder but it’s definitely soup. This is where things like my Dad’s Red Beef Soup or my Chicken Tortilla soup come into play. Those are great all year round.
Heck who am I kidding, all of these I eat all year round.

Soup – it’s so much more than just flavor
I can only give you my thoughts on this but I’d love yours as well. Soup to me is calming, soothing even. When it’s so hot it forces you to slow down and savor it. It gives you a chance to take a breath, relax, and actually enjoy the moment.
Yes, soup can be a moment. Again this is how I look at it. When I hold a mug of hot soup it somehow helps melt away that stress.
