Bacon-Wrapped Stuffed Figs Ingredients
This recipe is straightforward, requiring only five ingredients.
- Fresh Figs
- Regular Cut Bacon
- Goat Cheese
How to Make Stuffed Figs
I think this whole tray took me about 10 minutes to assemble.
- Preheat the oven, then line a rimmed half sheet pan with foil and place a cooling rack inside. Slice the bacon in half horizontally.
- Slice each fig in half and add about a teaspoon of goat cheese to the center.
- Grab a strip of bacon and wrap it around the fig, making sure the ends overlap on the bottom. Place them on the cooling rack, seam-side down.
- Season the bacon and place the pan into the oven. Bake for ~25-30 minutes or until the bacon is crispy. Remove from the oven, transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to catch the oil.
- Plate, drizzle with hot honey and enjoy!
Drizzle with Hot Honey
I absolutely LOVE LOVE this brand of hot honey. I know there are others out there, but this is the most well-balanced and flavorful I’ve found.
Bacon-Wrapped Goat Cheese Stuffed Fig FAQs
- Can I make these ahead of time? Yes! Just assemble up to a day in advance and store them covered in the fridge. Just make them when you’re ready to serve.
- What type of bacon should I use? Go with regular-cut versus thick. Thick-cut will take way too long to cook, and you’ll end up with mushy figs.
- How do I keep the bacon from unraveling? You can use a soaked wooden toothpick, but as long as you don’t overly stuff the fig, you shouldn’t need that. As long as the bacon overlaps slightly when you place it on the cooling rack, it shouldn’t unravel.
- Can I serve these at room temperature? Of course! They are best served warm, but still super scrumptious at room temperature.
- How many should I plan per person? If it’s on a table with a bunch of other bites, about 3 per person.
- Do I need a dipping sauce for these? Since these are finished with hot honey, there’s no need for a sauce. If you want to skip the hot honey, try a balsamic glaze instead.
How to Reheat Bacon-Wrapped Figs
I’m gonna be honest, I don’t think leftovers actually exist, but if you are lucky enough to catch a unicorn, then here’s how:
- Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the leftovers on a rimmed baking tray and cover loosely with foil (this prevents the bacon from burning. Reheat for about 10 minutes or until warmed through.
Stuffed Fig Substitutions
- Figs: Fresh figs are recommended, but if you only have dried figs, rehydrate them in warm water for about 15-20 minutes before stuffing and baking. Alternatively, you can use Medjool dates.
- Cheese: Go with cream cheese, blue cheese, or mascarpone. I would avoid soft, melty cheeses like brie.
- Bacon: Prosciutto would work. Sorry, but I don’t do turkey bacon, but you do you if you want to try it.
Other Ways to Make Stuffed Figs
Grill Instructions:
This requires you to set up your grill for Indirect cooking/ If you’re unsure how to do this, check out this post.
- Set up the grill for indirect cooking. Preheat the grill to 400°F. Assemble the bacon-wrapped dates and place them on a cooling rack, bacon-seam side down.
- Place the cooling rack on the indirect side. Grill for ~20 minutes or until the bacon is cooked through.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and serve immediately.
Air Fryer:
- Preheat the oven to 390°F. Stuff the figs and, when the air fryer is preheated, place the wrapped figs, bacon-seam sides facing down.
- Air fry for ~10 minutes or until the bacon is fully cooked and crisp. Note that the bacon will crisp up a bit more while cooling.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and serve immediately.
