With zucchini season in full swing here I wanted to take a few to share with you some of my favorite zucchini recipe. What I love about this vegetable (though botanically it’s a fruit – did you know that?) is its versatility. But back to my question. Did you know it’s a fruit and not a vegetable at all? People often mistake zucchini as a vegetable. In a culinary context, zucchini is treated as a vegetable; it is usually cooked and presented as a savory dish or accompaniment. Botanically, however, zucchini is a fruit, being the swollen ovary of the zucchini flower. TYVM wikipedia. Actually I didn’t realize that until a few years ago so if you got it wrong, you’re not alone.
But this vegetable, er um fruit, is truly one of the most versatile items out there. You can stuff it, steam it, saute it, deep fry it, bake it, eat it raw, make it as pasta, put it in desserts, mix with chocolate… the list goes on and on.
