Happy Monday, TKW Family! I hope you all had a wonderful week last week! If I’m being honest, I can’t even remember much of mine. I worked, stayed busy, and life just kind of kept moving. Other than having some friends over for dinner, nothing really stands out.

But speaking of friends…

My heart is incredibly heavy this week. I’m not someone who makes close friends easily. I’ve always kept my circle very small, and I tend to guard my heart. So when someone becomes family to me, they truly become family.

This week, my best friend here, Tami, and her family are moving several states away. No, this isn’t goodbye; she’s stuck with me for life. But it’s different. It’s knowing I can’t just text her and ask if she wants to grab lunch, come over, or spend an afternoon together. It’s the little, everyday moments that I’ll miss the most.

As I’m writing this, tears are literally streaming down my face.

Part of me wants to be selfish and wish they weren’t leaving. But the bigger part of me knows this is the best thing for their family, and I truly want that for them. Loving someone sometimes means cheering them on, even when it hurts your own heart.

Tami, her husband, and their family welcomed Mr. Fantabulous and me into their lives with open arms pretty much immediately when we moved here. They made us feel like we belonged, and that’s something I’ll never take for granted. In a world where genuine friendships can be hard to find, they’ve been such an incredible blessing.

I’ll forever be thankful that God brought our paths together, and I know that no amount of miles will change the bond we share.

So if I’m a little quieter than usual on social media this week, this is why. My heart just needs a little time to catch up. Hold your people close. Tell them you love them. Make the memories. The everyday moments become the ones you treasure the most.

What Chef Lori is Up To This Week

  • EATING MY FEELINGS: With Tami and her family moving, I have a feeling I’m going to be eating my feelings, crying a good bit, and moping around. I’ll work on new recipes, but honestly, my heart won’t be in it this week.

Did you make a recipe? Leave a blog comment!

So why do I ask this? Two reasons:

  1. Honest feedback is appreciated. It helps me learn and grow.
  2. Most folks read the comments before deciding whether to make a recipe.
Leave a comment on The Kitchen Whisperer

This is how I grow and become a better Chef. I truly appreciate honest feedback on the recipes you’ve made by following the instructions as written! The most critical thing you can do for me is comment on the blog recipe post.

When I look at someone else’s recipe, I read the comments, and that’s honest feedback to me. So when you make a recipe of mine or plan on making it, leave a comment on the post. Everyone else who goes to my site would genuinely appreciate it!
