These Weekly Menu recipes allow you to get out of that same ol’ recipe rut and try some delicious and easy dishes!
Happy Monday, TKW Family! I hope you had a fantastic week last week! First… THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME (and sleeping in your own bed!). But what a whirlwind these past 10 days or so have been.
As many of you know, my brother Bob was FINALLY inducted into Pitt’s Hall of Fame! Check out the YouTube video. He STILL holds a 50-year record for the most interceptions in a single season. He’s the ONLY DB to win the Consensus All-American award, too. To say I’m proud of him is an understatement.
Of course, when we arrived there, it was pouring and HUMID (the very reason why we moved).
I’ll bulletize a summary of our trip to the ‘Burgh to spare you the long details (if you want more information, just email me).
- Since it was Fall, that meant we now had to watch for deer to run across the road while driving; definitely don’t miss that.
- I was in shock at how unbelievably dirty the city has become. Like trash, graffiti, and garbage, they were everywhere. This seriously hurt my heart, as this was not how I left my hometown.
- I finally got to meet my nephew’s wife, Alivia, although we had chatted a billion times online. So love that girl! And I got to hug my 15-month-old great-nephew!!! Although he took a HUGE liking to Mr. Fantabulous over me #justkindajealous LOL
- I got to spend time with both of my brothers, their wives, and Bob’s kids, which meant the world to me.
- Mr. Fantabulous and I spent as much of our free time with his parent as possible. That one REALLY tugged on my heartstrings. Dad will be 91, and Mom is 89. It was hard for me to say goodbye to them. How I WISH they would move in with us.
- We went to our favorite Italian restaurant with his family. I had been working on recreating their Devonshire sauce recipe for a few years, and after tasting it, I not only recreated it, but I also made it significantly better! Stay tuned!
- We hit up our favorite iconic pizzeria, which we always visited, but WOW, talk about a complete letdown. Not only was it more than double the cost for a plain cheese pizza and soda, but it was inedible! It was raw, and they used much cheaper, lesser-quality ingredients. We actually threw it away (whereas in the old days we used to fight over the leftovers). Needless to say, we’ll never go back there.
- We were able to see a few friends of ours, and I got to catch up with some of my brother’s high school best friends. Peach – you’ll always have a place here in AZ!
I’m sure there are a million other details, but I’ll say this: even though Pittsburgh has become super rundown, it’ll always be ‘home’ to me and have a place in my heart.
Did you make a recipe? Leave a blog comment!
So why do I ask this? Two reasons:
- Honest feedback is appreciated. It helps me learn and grow.
- Most people read the comments first before deciding whether to make a recipe or not.
This is how I grow and become a better Chef. I truly appreciate honest feedback on the recipes you’ve made by following the instructions as written! The most critical thing you can do for me is comment on the blog recipe post.
When I look at someone else’s recipe, I read the comments, and that’s honest feedback to me. When you make a recipe of mine or plan to make it, please leave a comment on the post. Everyone else who visits my site would genuinely appreciate it.
