Top Loved Recipes of 2016

This is one of those posts that always brings a smile to my face and honestly, helps me more than you’ll ever know.  This gives me an idea on what you guys are and are not into.  I get insight on what types of recipes you want to see and maybe less of ones that you don’t. I have a TON of recipes for 2017 already – yes, even 2 days into the year and a bunch of ideas for new recipes thanks to looking at these results.

I’m thinking 2017 you guys are going to be super stoked about these recipes and never at a loss for a great recipe.

Kicking off this past year you guys went NUTS over my Baked Brie with Cranberry Relish.  OMG this thing went viral in just a few short hours after being posted. And my Candied Bacon Brussels Sprouts quickly became the top requested recipe for both Christmas and Thanksgiving for a side dish. And not to say I told you so buuuuuuuut I told you so *wink* that my Buttery Fruit Spread Bars were going to be a huge for Christmas cookies.  And Mom’s Classic Pot Roast recipe that I converted to a Pressure Cooker… OMG you literally brought tears to my eyes. This was such a personal recipe for me and the fact that you guys loved it so much. Thank you!   And that Torta … you made it such a Sunday classic.

This holiday season treat your family and friends to this seriously delicious Creamy Baked Brie with Cranberry Relish & Toasted Pecans! It takes only 15 minutes and will definitely be the hit of your holiday food table!

Ah the holidays are here – the hustle, the bustle, Christmas movies, shiny wrapping paper, caroling and getting together with loved ones.  And if you’re a foodie like me there’s one more thing to mention about the holidays… THE FOOD!  Let’s face it people.  When the holidays are here, we want foods that impress, wow and taste absolutely incredible.  In my family and circle of friends we don’t gather around the tv or even the fireplace.  Nope, it’s all about where the food is served.  To me the kitchen is the heart of the home.  So why not make foods that show folks you love them, that they are special to you.  As Mama always said “Put your best dish forward Lori!”

And that’s exactly what I’m doing today.  This Creamy Baked Brie with Cranberry Relish & Toasted Pecans is truly incredible.  It’s creamy, cheesy, tart, citrusy and crunchy all on a single bite on a delicious Keebler® Toasteds® Cracker; Butter Crisp flavor to be exact.  I heart those – like it’s nothing for me to polish off a sleeve of those for dinner and yes, JUST those for dinner!
Impress your guests with this easy and delicious dish this holiday season!

TKW’s Favorite Winter Comfort Foods

As a kid I absolutely loved winter.  It meant a long Christmas break from school, Santa visited and tons of snow days. It meant hot chocolate after a long hard day of playing in the snow, red runny noses, snowball fights and Mom’s comfort foods.

As an adult.. yeah, I hate winter.  Well okay hate is a bit harsh.  I like the ‘thought’ of winter and the pretty snow…on tv. Now, being in my 40’s the winter means achy bones, the WORST drivers in the world on the road, bitter cold temperatures that seriously make you question your location – “Do I still live in Pittsburgh or did I get relocated to the Arctic Tundra overnight?”, road salt stains on the bottom of every single pair of pants you own and comfort food. Okay fine, there is a silver – an oh-so-delicious-silver lining from winter… COMFORT FOODS!  I don’t care how bad my commute home was, how many idiot drivers I encounter on the roads or the fact that I did some incredible ballerina-like move on the ice while walking… in front of all of downtown Pittsburgh.  Knowing I’m coming home to one of my favorite winter comfort foods… WORTH IT!

winter comfort foods

Now if you’re fortunate enough to live in an area where you don’t feel the wintery wrath of Mother Nature well… can I move in? *bats baby blues*  I’ve become one of those folks.  I’m not a weather complainer per se, but let’s just say I want sun, warmth and no more -15F days.  However comfort foods shouldn’t be reserved for bitter cold days.  Heck if that were the case folks in say Arizona may never eat these types of foods and that’s just a crime.  You NEED these recipes in your life… and in your tummy!
Come get comfortable with me!

Happy New Year 2016!

To my TKW Family,

Another year has passed and another year you’ve allowed me to be a part of your lives.  Words cannot convey the heartfelt gratitude I have towards you all.  I’m honored and humbled.  This is more than just a blog to me, it’s about your allowing me to share my passion and pursue my dreams.  You’ve welcome me into your homes, your kitchens and your hearts.  We’ve laughed til our sides hurt, we’ve sent love and prayers to one another when needed, we’ve listened when we needed a friend, we’ve bonded; we’ve become a family.

From my heart to yours, thank you!

Here’s to making 2016 our best year yet!  Happy New Year!  I love you guys!
