Spinach & Artichoke Crispy Skillet Pan Pizza with optional Garlic Butter Herb Shrimp

If you want the BEST crispy pan crust skillet pizza then you’re going to want to make this recipe. The secret to this deliciousness is all from Red Star Platinum Superior Baking Yeast!

This post is being sponsored by Red Star Yeast featuring their Platinum Yeast. All opinions of their ABSOLUTELY AMAZING products are mine.

Pizza is more than just dough covered in sauce and cheese; it goes way deeper than that. I have just a passion and true adoration for it. It’s something that has been in my family for decades stemming from my brother having a pizza shop for 17 years to my branching out on my own and developing my own TKW Signature series for it. Pizza is actually what launched the commercial aspect of The Kitchen Whisperer. Pizza for me is my deserted island food. It’s my last-meal dish. It’s my every-Friday-night-for-the-past-2-decades dinner.

When you’re presented with a perfect pizza dough I turn into the Leonardo da Vinci of pizza. Pizza dough is my canvas and the unlimited toppings are my paints. I approach pizza, and dough, from a multitude of ways – as an engineer, as a mathematician, as an artist and lastly as someone who is truly infatuated with pizza.

Truly, Red Star Yeast is the ONLY yeast I trust in my award winning pizza dough recipes!

Growing up in Pittsburgh, football was a way of life. It was every part of your life as was going to work, grocery shopping, and church. Having 4 brothers that all played, my Friday nights were spent in the bleachers cheering them on as loud as I could. Saturdays I was outside with the youngest of my brothers holding the football tee for him for hours on end so he could practice that game-winning field goal. My family was so into football that my Dad literally built field goal posts in our one flat field. I can’t recall if that field was regulation size but my chubby little legs would tire when trying to run from one end to the other when my third brother ran drills and had scrimmages. And Sundays, well, they were meant for Mom’s homemade bread, watching football all day and eating “football foods” during the games. Oh, we still had a proper Sunday family dinner of say pot roast, mashed potatoes and the like but during the game, it was all about those football foods.

With the big game coming up, folks are already planning their festivities. If they aren’t lucky enough to score a ticket, they are settling for the next best thing – where to watch the game. Some may visit a sports bar while others may host a party at their house. But the one thing that is consistent regardless of where you watch it is the food. You want delicious, easy and something that you only need to use one hand to eat. I mean nothing is better than holding something yummy in your one hand while your other hand is in the air waving like a lunatic cheering on your team. Wait, sorry, I was talking about myself there. LOL

While I can’t help you get a ticket to the big game, I can help you make some seriously awesome dishes for it!  Now anybody can serve plain ol’ buffalo chicken dip, a bowl of pretzels and delivery pizza. Pfft – that’s so 1990!  You’re in an age where people are foodies. They want, and expect, unique, delicious and easy. Spiced Pork Flatbread with Caramel Sweet Potato Pizza Sauce

Elevate your pizza game up 47 levels on the YUM scale with this Spiced Pork Flatbread with Caramel Sweet Potato Pizza Sauce!  Apple Caramel Creams® are the secret to this unbelievably delicious sauce!

This post is being sponsored by Goetze’s Candy Company featuring their Caramel Apple Creams® candies (which are seriously one of the best candies on the face of the planet!).  All opinions of these ABSOLUTELY AMAZING candies are mine.

So hey… people I am bursting at the seams about this recipe. You guys all know I am a HUGE pizza snob because simply put, pizza is my all time favorite food ever. Like it takes a lot for me to post a pizza recipe or ever recommend a place that sells pizza. Perhaps it stems from running a family pizza shop for years that had seriously good pizza or the fact that I know I make one epic mean pie. All I know is I. KNOW. PIZZA. As you know I teamed up with Goetze’s Candy company last month to bring you that insane caramel infused chicken burger that took over social media. Oh, sure I got a lot of “Seriously, Lor???  Candy in a burger?” comments but every person that tried it became addicted to it. It’s THAT good!

This month my friends at Goetze’s Candy Company challenged me again to see how else or how much further I could push the proverbial envelope again with these candies. I had a few ideas (still do so I can’t wait to work on more recipes for them) but for this one, I kept coming back to pizza. Maybe it’s because I was craving pizza.

Who am I kidding? I’m always craving pizza.

Oh people have I got one seriously delicious recipe for you!!!

Roasted Vegetable Phyllo Dough Pizza

Step outside of the traditional pizza box with this flaky Roasted Vegetable Phyllo Dough Pizza. Razor-thin layers of crispy phyllo dough are topped with herb roasted vegetables, grated parmesan, and fresh mozzarella cheeses. This recipe is a serious game changer in the world of pizza.

Now you guys know me when it comes to my undeniable love for pizza.  It is that single food that in all of my *covers mouth and coughs <insert age here>* years that I have never grown tired of.  I literally make this every single week, sometimes more than once a week.  I’ve made it a million and 7 ways and have had a bajillion different toppings, sauces and yes even crusts.  There’s not a single thing I don’t like about pizza. That being said, after having a family pizza shop for 17 years I consider myself to be an expert when it comes to taste, texture, and well, what makes a good pizza.  Is it the sauce?  Is it the dough?  Is it the cheese?

The answer is simple… yes! It’s all 3 to be honest.  You can have a killer sauce and awesome dough but if you put on the wrong cheese it will ruin the pizza.  Same thing with the dough – you have fresh burrata, basil that is as pristine as can be and that sauce… you’d sell your grandmother for another batch of it but then you get the dough. It tastes like that pizza that you found under your bed, covered in dust bunnies and a rogue penny embedded in it that you lost in your room when you were 13.

So know this folks, when I post a pizza recipe, it’s good.  No I mean it’s GOOD!  If I won’t eat it I would never post about it. I’m a HUUUUUUUUUUGE pizza snob and this girl does not play when it comes to pizza!

And today, that’s where this pizza comes into play.  I teamed up with my Family to share one of my killer pizza recipes. This recipe, yeah it’s definitely going to be outside of your pizza comfort zone because this is definitely not a standard pizza shop pie but dear lord it needs to be!  If I didn’t know how to make this and I found someone who could I’d be their best customer!
Taking your pizza to the next level!

Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Prosciutto Pizza with Balsamic Drizzle

Step up your pizza game in a seriously delicious, fancy schmancy way!  Roasted Brussels sprouts, crispy prosciutto, creamy Gruyere and a honey balsamic drizzle make this one friggen fantabulous pizza!

“Why’d you have to go and ruin pizza by putting not normal veggies and fancy schmancy stuff on it???” asks Mr. Fantabulous.  Um because I can!  Deal with it toots.  And he did.. by letting me eating the whole pizza myself.  Oh trust me I was totally cool with that as this pizza was so friggen good that I even impressed myself.  It’s funny as the items I put on this pizza he loves…separately. Apparently by putting them on a pizza I’m breaking some food law according to my husband.  Now my husband will swear up one side and down the other that he is not picky however I swear he’s worse than I am  – at least when it comes to pizza.

He’s the man that says “Order whatever you want on a pizza as long as it’s plain”. Yes, plain. The man prefers plain cheese pizza.  And every single time he asks for a plain cheese pizza I think of Kevin and that pizza scene from the movie “Home Alone”… ‘a lovely cheese pizza just for me’. But this time this pizza was for me.. ALL ME!  Well okay I’d share with you if you were here!

This is one of those pizzas I so wish my parents were still around to see. By that I mean not see the pizza but rather see me eat it… willingly. Now when I say I was a picky kid I mean I was as seriously picky kid.  We’re talking no chunky sauces, absolutely no onions, no weird things – pretty much it had to be buttered noodles, pb&j, corn and mashed potatoes.  And pizza but it had to have enough cheese to choke a horse and pepperoni.  OMG if you even waved a mushroom near it I was squinching up my nose as tight as I could.

There will be no nose squinching up with this delicious pizza!
